Thanks for posting this picture. I was looking for an image to show my 4 year old grandson about these events. He loves helicopters, and was surprised to learn that "Granny rode in a Chinook Rescue Helicopter!" Our house on Lover's Lane went under 8 feet of water, we made it into town and the office we rented started to flood as well, so we hopped a ride on a friendly canoe, and stayed in the Catholic Church with many other people, and then, finally, mud-caked, cold, and distraught, we were air-lifted out of the Guerneville Cemetery to the Santa Rosa Vets Building by this huge helicopter! Santa Rosa was perfectly normal -- another world. We had a debit card, so we took a taxi to Coddingtown and bought fresh clothing, then went to the wonderful (now gone) Fonseca's Restaurant on Fourth Street for dinner -- which they gave us for FREE, because they had been "worried" about us. It was days before we got back home, and "home" was a pile of mud. We lost just about everything except the dishes, pots, and pans. I live in Forestville now, high on a hill. No more flood zone for me.

Tinker is still around. One of their sons works at Dada's and the other, does wood flooring I think what my kids told me. My oldest son is 24. His class through the years, was the largest class at Guerneville School, to be known as the flood baby class. In nursery school (Rainbow School) more then half the kids were all born withing a month of each other and within 9-10 months of the flood.
