Re: “The Guerneville Flood Project: Kids Outside the Church

I am almost positive that the two grown girls standing by the vehicle just above the little girls atleast the one on the right is Laurie Levengood and the one to the left, Michelle Miller? Maybe

Re: “The Guerneville Flood Project: Helicopter Rescue at the Cemetery

Funny, I remember leaving by helicopter after 5-6 days as I did not want to leave, from a business that was about 2 miles down the road heading towards Armstrong Woods Park. It was a big parking lot, chain link fence and it was a business of some sort. Sorry memory is very foggy on details. I do remember sitting right next to the tv camera man so I did not get on tv because he could not swing the camera around on me I was too close. It was an incredible flight in so many ways.

Re: “The Guerneville Flood Project: Kids Outside the Church

Ok, I have to share a story on this one. We slept in the church and in Dominic and Sam Raitanos semi truck, we were all stranded in this small part right on the edge of town. The only way you could go from here is to Armstrong Woods Park. No way out other than helicopter. So the funny part of this is those of us that were in our "party" phase had a blast because we could party (and we were not obnoxious I dont think) and the police could not do anything about it. We just drank from our "silver bags" from the soaked boxes of cheap wine that floated out of the Safeway store and felt it was funny that at 17-18 years old we could drink and get away with it. Wow, this is bringing back major memories.

Re: “The Guerneville Flood Project: Dominic Raitano

I cannot believe that it is still running. I helped to build that Safeway, Dominic and Sam Raitano were a huge part of my life as Sam and I were together for many years and I spent many soaked days during the flood saving the collectibles from the arcade, packing up video game systems, taking the semi truck across the bridge to save some police officers. Being helped across the main road with a 55 mph current holding onto a rope and the fire fighters helping us across. I remembering them opening the doors to the Safeway, and we ran around with a boat and picked up all the "silver bags" that were the insides of the cheap boxes of wine. We partied hard, it made things seem better. Spent too many days at the Vets building, but the military helicopter ride was incredible. Being 18 at the time it was so crazy!!

Re: “The Guerneville Flood Project: Rescue on the Stretcher

Wow, Herb what a flashback to see your face. And the flood well, I lived through it, the stories are long and entertaining and will put some together to share. But for now, so happy to see this being done...brought tears to my eyes. I lost my best friend, Laurie Levengood (Goerke) just a few months ago and this brought back such tremendous memories and some tears.

Re: “The Guerneville Flood Project: Dominic Raitano

Dominic is my mother's brother, which makes him my uncle by birth.

Re: “The Guerneville Flood Project: Dominic Raitano

I knew Dominic well, from the old video game arcade he had in the Safeway parking lot. He was an expert piano player and a bottle expert. His son Sam lives in San Jose.

This article is another reminder that when in doubt ALWAYS get up off the couch and head down to a local arts and music event. Surprises like this night makes it all worth it!

Re: “Mar. 25: Moira Scar at Unity Music

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! us Ghoulz of Moira Scar saying hellohz, and thanks for mentioning show, underground journalism lives! show was a blast, obscure noise and pop metal side by side with sway rock n roll and our Scar-ship of deathgarage, noisejazz, and monsterwaves, and a truelly all ages audience. DJ KudJo Jim by the coffee shop is rad promoter, but Unity Music is bunk venue, they take all the money from shows, that bands earned by getting folks to show (with your help in getting out the word!) and use it for who knows what, supposedly to help kids with music, but if yer a kid of whatever age in a band playing Unity, you basically have to pay to play, and they charge too much anyway, eight bux or do their crazy battle of the bands coupon scam. We're gonna do Arlene Francis next time, and or Phoenix, and or do you think the River Theater in Guerneville would rent itself out to us? those old River shows still scourch me cerebro. Till next time, salud salad. xoRx.
