Re: “the LoWatters

Great Local band, they sound a bit like The Band, but better harmonies, with many alt country/folk covers and plenty of excellent original material. Guitar, bass and sometimes resonator guitar (slide), with great vocal harmonies. The venue is funky and a great, old-school, friendly place to hang out and they have great food, too. One of the friendliest, down-to-earth venues in Marin County, in my experience.

Re: “Funkendank Oktoberfest

This was a fun event! Lot's of space to mill around, visit with friends and make new ones. Great music! The paella was delicious and everyone was beautiful.

The feel good vibe went south by the start of Galactic which no doubt coincided with the point that many drinkers who don't know their limits decided they no longer had to play nice with others. A couple "spotholders" at the front of the stage proceeded to invite one friend after the next after the next, into already occupied space driving back and away all the rest. It was pretty obvious they planned it ahead of time. If someone already occupying the space they were overtaking were to complain they used various means of harassment: one became belligerent by threatening to spill cups of alcohol on another, another inciting violence by slamming her body into the complainer multiple times, another drunk threatened to punch a woman who complained. This mob was about 25 strong by the last few songs leaving many pretty disgusted ticketbuyers who had been displaced, stepped on etc. with no apologies. And of course the feel good vibe was gone.

My suggestion is if you're going to have a big drinking event with bussed in drinkers who because they don't have to drive believe they also don't have to be decent human beings, place spotters/bouncers in front of the stage and elsewhere to make it more difficult for the ignorant drunks to spoil the show for others.

Re: “"Stranger in Paradise" with California Redwood Chorale

The Sebastopol Center for the Arts moved several years ago. It is a block behind the Sebastopol Post Office.
The address is 282 S. High Street.
The building is the former Veteran's Building at the end of Ives Park.
