Note these loopholes and more work with each other to eviscerate intended safeguards.
By all these OR model laws all family members are not required to be contacted, hold that thought. A single predatory heir is allowed to steer the sign up and then execute the lethal process without a witness.
A witness is not required to confirm that the dose was so called “self administered” (you remember this was one of their lead selling points).
Even as the law provides immunity for all involved and demands the falsification of the death certificate (impossible to track trends for good public policy) it actually prohibits a public inquiry of any kind (remember the family members who were not contacted, no recourse for them). A straight up murder for money can slide right through. It is Dangerous public policy. As if that is not enough, in 2015 they added another black hole to the bogus signup process with “someone who claims to know how you communicate may speak for you throughout the lethal process, no other qualifiers”.
These loopholes and more are in the OR, WA, and CA’s laws and expand the scope of exploitation by predators and predatory corporations for windfall profits.
few million here a few million there...not much bang for a million anymore. ? how much of this is salaries for managers? they're pretty good at talking, playing on their phones and looking busy but not much gets done.
We invite you to visit us at Skirt Chaser Vintage in Santa Rosa where we have yet to don a corset! Secondhand shopping is our passion and we thank you for writing about it!
Whoops my big mistake.
The correct address for Mazzy's Closet is 110 N. Main St., Sebastopol
The address for Mazzy's Closet in Sebastopol is incorrect. The correct address is 101 N. Main St. You have it listed as 10 N. Main St. Thanks.
Tom, I didn't see you mention that half of the Larkspur extension $$ has already been pledged by the MTC: http://www.northbaybusinessjournal.com/csp/mediapool/sites/NBBJ/IndustryNews/story.csp?cid=4185165&sid=778&fid=181#grXvLiS5klklHZRq.97
Thus if the transportation bill is passed into law with the $20 million for the Larkspur extension, then the extension is nearly completely funded.
Nobody has the right to "Make-up Rules as they go", like the police seems to do daily. They swore to serve and protect!! Each and Every police officer "knows" the law. Rohnert Park has a long History of Make up Police Rules!!
Not one of them listened to the Facts, when it came to my son!! I Can't wait for the Facts to be told!!
John is a wonderful, crazy guy who I met first in the mid-1970s when he was a teenager. He performed at the Avant-Garde Festivals in Trenton, New Jersey, and slowly grew into one of the most interesting and quirky musicians I've ever known. And is more than 'just' an unknown musician. He donated a kidney. He recorded and distributed prank phone calls. He was the subject of a lecture at Rensselaer by a guy who'd never met him. A famous composer flew across the country just to meet him in person. He's been the subject of a documentary. And he had (still has?) a mechanical monkey. And much more. Too much more. This article is well deserved!
I've known about him since the Eighties and always thought he was hilarious. Glad to see he's still making music on his terms.
He is mentally ill but he is my friend...Andrew Gentsch
You're a jerk. You really don't know what you are talking about. Joe donates both time and material to help AIDS victims. You probably think the AIDS patients should go to jail too! Learn your facts before you make such stupid, inaccurate and insensitive comments.
And here's MIT's research on the subject: http://web.mit.edu/nnf/publications/GHM203.pdf
Merna, the kind of shade cloth that is being used in big projects in Chile and elsewhere by Fogquest is 35% shade coefficient, Raschel weave, u.v. protected polypropylene or polyethylene mesh. However, the only source for this is in South America. See their website for more info: fog quest.org Of course, any shade cloth of a loose weave 30% to 40%, doubled, will catch fog.
Enough! Why is only state law- rather then local regs mentioned? Here in SoCo, we are limited to a total of 30 plants per script- NOT to exceed 100 sq ft of canopy. State law is irrelevant to this discussion.
Ok- whether 400-500...or 1300 plants. Let's see. If greenhouse- light dep and 2nd round- we're talking 1/4#- 3/4# per plant. Twice in a season. (3, or even 4 if he has grid power or large gens and running lights.) If full season outdoor- 1-3#'s per plant. Realistically- we're talking a low of 500#'s, a high of 3 tons. Either way- a hell of a lot of weed and far more then 53 aids patients can possibly use.
And other the new laws passed by CA to FINALLY reel in the abuses of the industry- a grow of his size, especially by the cops 2 parcel numbers, would be unlikely to be approved.
I'm sorry- but as someone who as been in this industry since LONG before 215... from what I see on the face here- and what I know of the current state of the industry- I hope he gets a felony conviction and is banned from the industry for good. I'm sick and tired of the greed cloaking themselves as do-gooders...
What logical and rational evidence can there be that supports the continued use of a piece of technology that many wise and sensible people have come to recognize is harmful to our health and to the environment?
I suspect that we will need to look deeper to find what motivates our attachment to something that generates as much passion as the leaf blower. Perhaps the reasons are not rational or logical? Maybe we are in the same sphere of psychological makeup as religious beliefs or political ideologies where rational explanations do not necessarily apply? The passion that accompanies certain individuals who have expressed their right to use their leaf blower has made me think were were arguing the Second Amendment. Some letters to the Editor have expressed their entitlement and determination to continue using their leaf blowers in spite of eventual prohibition with strong emotional sentiments not altogether different from those infamous words of Charlton Heston,” I will give up my gun ( read leaf blower) when you pry it from my cold dead hands”.
The leaf blower is a weapon that forces everything in its path away at hyper speed with the power of a firearm without regard or respect for the rest of the environment or the rights of others. The noise from leaf blowers not only damages our hearing, but the intermittent frequency, the whine and the pitch from these devices cause an increase in heart rate and elevated blood pressure raising the risk of ulcers and colitis. Then there are the many psychological ill effects that people suffer. The irradiation due to the constantly changing amplitude puts the person being subjected in a continual sate of noise induced stress response which slowly erodes the immune system and can lead to depression as well as states of rage. Yet, in spite of the evidence that says the environmental damage created by leaf blowers is substantial and that their continued use puts children especially at risk of irreversible health risks, it seems to continue to fall on death ears.
To argue that one must adjust and learn to live with the noise pollution from leaf blowers is like saying we must learn to live with second hand smoke from cigarettes. This is nonsense. Noise from leaf blowers is literally making us sick.
For those who have dismissed the leaf blower issue as an insignificant distraction from more important matters, please reconsider. There is a wealth of information available.

The spontaneous response by the Calistoga community and volunteers was extraordinary. In the days immediately following the evacuations, hundreds of people stepped forward to help fire victims and evacuees. There were many people who came to the aid of evacuees (including Wendy Lopez, Viri Agapoff and Mimi Quirarte), prior to when CVNL’s Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC) was activated on Thursday, September 16.
Normally, CVNL stands up its emergency volunteer center within hours of a disaster. The delay in activating us as an EVC contributed to confusion and misunderstanding about our role in disaster response. CVNL is one of many who play a role in disasters – there are national and local partners that step up in what can be a very chaotic and emotional time. We honor and recognize the heroic efforts made by both individuals, businesses, and organizations.
During our time on site, no volunteers or donations were turned away. Through our business partnerships, and at no expense to the county, we transported 18 semi-trucks filled with 400 pallets of donated goods to the evacuees.
With respect to the email CVNL sent on Friday, we have not, and will not, add anybody to our mailing list without them opting in, which was clearly stated in the email. The purpose of the communication was to invite those who had volunteered their time to a celebration in their honor. If people have specific questions about CVNL’s role as an EVC, they can reach us directly at 415.479.5710.
Wish your site gave more time to edit comments.
Stett, I wrote several emails to the editor. Still waiting for an response. As for CVNL they bombarded many of the volunteers with an email inviting them to a thank you event they're hosting. Which is awesome. However 90% percent of those volunteers didn't signup to be added to their master emailing list. This is illegal. Also for them to use this list of volunteers to get further funding for their agency. Email me: email@example.com. I would love to talk to you.
Typical bullshit police behavior. That cop is so unprofessional, if RP had any integrity they would fire that fuckin meat head retard of a cop, who is exactly the kind of asshole that gives law enforcement a bad rap
