unk punk punk unk..no matter how its spelled or reformed im an 80s child and played shows with mdc went to the river theatre and saw a little band called GreenDay..im pretty bored with it ,always tolerated it (even as a youth) now with fukkin banjos ,,cumon local Musianship, where did you go? WE are Here Ready to Bring some new Honed Sounds to the ppl. I am Slanted in my Comment Here,as I studies alot of Latin -Afro Cuban music and grew up Playing funk and reggae,if Possible id like to see or be a Part of GOOD music that makes the girls wanna Dance ..NOT get puked on or slammed,I guess ive just outgrown this towns scene not to belittle the efforts of avant-Garde music popping up around {AFC}-look it up but i be little before, now im much bigger and older wiser, dont get me wrong i still love it loud but can any world music or funk come out to play and not just Midnite Sun( no offence ) but its getting stale around here,,Idea ..use the co-op for workshops and really get connections going rather than cesspool of happen to run into you vibe..lets do ~something special. Re: “Hey Whitey

This movie is NOT set at Whitman College (which is a real life top liberal arts college in the US) but at fictional "Winchester University". Please correct your story.

Re: “Fight of Our Lives

With 60+ BILLION food animals on the planet our best chance to mitigate climate change is to severely reduce consumption of animal foods. More than 1/3 of human induced warming is attributable to animal agriculture. Methane is 24 times more potent than CO2 but takes only 7 years to cycle out of the atmosphere. CO2 takes around 100 years to come out. Human pursuit of animal protein is the leading cause of methane release and a primary cause of CO2 concentrating in the atmosphere. Check the facts and act!

"As environmental science has advanced, it has become apparent that the human appetite for animal flesh is a driving force behind virtually every major category of environmental damage now threatening the human future: deforestation, erosion, fresh water scarcity, air and water pollution, climate change, biodiversity loss, social injustice, the destabilization of communities, and the spread of disease." Worldwatch Institute, "Is Meat Sustainable?"

“If every American skipped one meal of chicken per week and substituted vegetables and grains... the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than half a million cars off of U.S. roads.” Environmental Defense Fund

"A 1% reduction in world-wide meat intake has the same benefit as a three trillion-dollar investment in solar energy." ~ Chris Mentzel, CEO of Clean Energy

There is one single industry destroying the planet more than any other. But no one wants to talk about it... http://cowspiracy.com

Re: “Sonoma County Filmmakers

I am really trying hard to make shorts, but, it is hard in this town Santa Rosa. Once you get started people drop out or wan't more money to shoot, and edit. I have been trying to do it on my own, but I don't think it is festival worthy. I know there are film companies to join in S.F., but I need something more local, due to time limits. I'm going to try to make it to as much film festivals as I can this year. thank you, Real2Reel Productions

Re: “Metal Movies

You cannot pidgeon hole a musician to one style of music. The musician might prefer a particlular style, but can contribute to all styles. Jaco Pastorius could play anything. I really respected his work with Weather Report. Miss Him, we will.

Re: “An Ideal 'Husband'

I have never been to a play. Not even a high school play. I have never been interested in seeing a play. Until now. Oscar Wilde and this title ... I'm intrigued!

Re: “Spectral Love

Reality check wake up call for Steve & all who get suckered into believing that ghosts exist.
They don't. When a person dies the flesh body becomes empty of the eternal spirit that God placed in it. Done deal.
God is Spirit & we are created by Him as spirits that dwell in a flesh body while on earth. Our spirits never die but they do pass from this earthly realm into another realm.
The spirit/person who accepted the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ while still on earth will enter heaven and the all who passed without having Jesus as their personal Lord & Savior enter into a temporary place of torment called Hades. One day God will have His great white judgment and all who were in Hades will be cast into the lake of eternal fire(Hell).
The element of evil that does exist on earth are demons. All who practice any form of the occult have access to connect with them. No ghosts floating around but plenty of angry and wicked demons. The wise choice is to get right with God today and avoid hell one day.
Sorry folks but Satan is the master of deception & lies. He and his buddies are the true culprits of all paranormal stuff. I learned this first hand years ago when I was involved in an exorcism of a young woman. The demons spoke to me and the Holy Spirit cast each one out. Pretty cool experience! Gods best to all who read this and look up to live & live ready!

Re: “Call Me Elvis

could never get behind his music, seems to lack any originality, boring melodies uninspired lyrics but seems like nice guy.

Re: “Take It Outside

Napa Porchfest is the best (and the first) in the West! Thank you for this sweet article. Permit me to correct a couple of things in it:
The idea got rolling not during a comparison of regional architecture, but after a Facebook post on Jan. 11, 2011, about the proposed Porchfest in Somerville, Mass. — one of many in the East inspired by the original Ithaca Porchfest. Facebook users can see it at http://on.fb.me/Wc9xXg.
I commented that Napa didn't have enough porches, but was quickly corrected by friend and architect Juliana Inman, a city council member (now vice-mayor) and boardmember of a local preservation trust, who pointed out the city's many historic neighborhoods where porches are everywhere.
Music-loving Thea Witsil of Wildcat Vintage Clothing was the other person who jumped in right away to say "Let's do it here!"
We were soon joined by other community members including Rachael Clark, Mark Lucas of the Napa Bicycle Coalition and innkeeper Jamie Cherry; I wish I could list everyone.
Napa Porchfest was the first I ever attended and I still think it's the best, but this year I finally got to enjoy the Somerville fest that also started in 2011 and inspired all of us in Napa.

Re: “Family Talk

Just - Wow! I arrived in Sierra Leone in 1999 - we thought we had secured the peace through the LOME agreement, however, war was still raging up country and Freetown saw it's series of killing in the Streets. Bravo and Conrgatulations! Cannot wait to see the film and interview the filmmaker.

Re: “Under the Radar

Just to clarify some more, Ben Stephens and Gabriel Smith created Live Musicians Co-Op eight years ago, as they saw there was a great need for it. Nathan Prowse came along much later.

Re: “Under the Radar

Jus to clarify a few misunderstandings, Ben Stephens was the founder of the live musicians co-op and nathan prowse got on board to expand the place.

Re: “Cabaret Buffet

For the record, I have never been "the" producer of Good Hip Hop Monthly, I joined the ongoing monthly event in its 5th year in 2013 as a resident DJ and a promoter of the event. *** Much thanks for the interview and for a great article!

Re: “Under the Radar

The July 2nd show sounds rad! I'm glad LMC is helping bring back a decent music scene to Santa Rosa since there are already so many great bands, there just needs to be more great venues.
