Re: “The Bomb

What?! Go Gary! I had no idea you had this in you. I mean, I knew you were clever and brilliant and hilarious and kind and thoughtful and really really good at your job, but a NOVEL?! Awesome. I'm going to get ahold of a copy post-haste. I miss you, ol' pal.

Re: “Local Goods

Cool. That flag could be symbol for anyone, like a libertarian, who believes that they have a right to be free ie: to be left the hell alone. So it doesn't work for liberals / statists whose primary objective is to expand the role of government and it's intrusiveness into the lives and liberties of all.

Re: “Local Goods

Cool. I'm a Libertarian, and we use this flag to represent our values. We are not right wingers. More centered and believe in pro choice and individual rights to privacy and personal freedoms.

Re: “Still Crazy

One of the most underrated bands in metal. I've seen them perform since the 80's and STILL enjoy their show! Cheers too many more years to come!

Re: “The Spigot

Sad embarrassing shame for Marin, to have re-elected CA rep Marc Levine, (D)INO, who cloaks himself with green-wash garb as long as it doesn't affect his patrons, while actually being a captured Trojan horse. Remember this is the guy who voted against overtime and other protections for farm workers and domestic workers.

Re: “Pitchforks or Rakes?

Interesting. Umm let's just start with one "fact:" "who killed 500,000 Arabs in Libya." Your alternative sources (some good sources, but also read 'b and c level sources') might have led you astray. To demonstrate your even-mindedness, you decide to add: "will cause WWIII with Russia." That is a very sensational claim -not really a fact supported by any "alternative sources.". We won't know if that claim is true until wwIII breaks out, or in 2024 when this current presidency cycle is over. To suggest that the US is anything other than a 2 party system is also questionable. Yes, four "parties" have emerged this election cycle, but not really. Perhaps we just need a new conservative/centrist party. IMHO, it was the whole religious/anti-abortion/anti-gay/pro tea party stances of the Right that tore the thing asunder. I understand there is a BIG Dream that Trump is the real outsider who can change things. I don't think we'll see the test. But, if we do, I say, "Good luck with that." IMO, the real revolution waiting to happen will not be started by a white fat-cat.

Re: “Pitchforks or Rakes?

Dear 'I am Republican' I wouldn't know what FOX says since I never watch them. In fact, all me news comes from over 100 different alternative news sites on the web. Many from Russia, India, Pakistan as well as the US. I do my homework and everything I wrote is fact not conjecture. Everything I quoted Hillary on is common knowledge to those that, like myself, have eschewed mainstream media which is owned/controlled by those with a vested interest in getting you to believe what they want and to follow, like a sheep, their agenda. Also, I voted for Obama in both 2008 and 2012 so your kneejerk conclusions about me and my beliefs are just silly. In your world there are Republicans and Democrats and that encompassed to two polarities of all political thought without regard to the fact that both parties are controlled by the same people. However, if you care, you can substantiate what I said for example Hillary's record as Secretary of State as well as many studies on how Hillary's declared intention to impose an illegal no-fly zone over Syria will cause WWIII with Russia. On the other hand, if you don't care why are we talking?

Re: “Pitchforks or Rakes?

I am republican . I have tried very hard to support my party and understand the positions of DT. But mostly I find that the whole and entire platform is what Robert Dunn presents = blame Hillary for everything you can make up. It is because of that, and the previous policy of "blame Obama for everything you can fabricate" that I seek a new party. This time I have to vote for Hillary. Next time I hope there will be a new centrist party. I may be as crazy as the Trumps, tho. How can we possibly find our way to sensibility when regular folks like Dunn, are willing to pass on crazy ideas that they hear on fox. Clearly Dunn did not think of these ideas on his own.

Re: “Pitchforks or Rakes?

I think we all need to band together in unity behind the mass murderer who killed 500,000 Arabs in Libya, that demanded Haiti cut their minimum wage in half to suit the dictates of the US garment industry while Secretary of State, that fomented coups in Honduras and Ukraine, that cackled 'we came, we saw, he died!' that referred to young black men as 'super predators that need to be bought under heel', Bernie supporters as 'basement dwellers', Mexican-Americans voters as 'Taco Bowl', women accusing her husband of sexual abuse as 'the Bimbo Brigade', and Republicans supporting Trump as 'deplorables' because A. She's a woman and B. Donald Trump says mean things.

Re: “The Sea Forager

My first, and basically only, thought, reading this article, was I hope to God he doesn't reveal ALL of the precious secret spots that we have been fishing in the area since we were kids. There's already too many people out there and now, for instance, I can just see the Bolinas shore cheek to jowl with Sunday fisher people. There should be a law against publicly revealing time-honored and sorely won fishing, foraging and hiking spots that are the domain of children and those grown ups who had to "hang out"as children with the other children in-the-know. Instant knowledge is no fair. Aaaaaargh.

Re: “Out of Darkness

You know what would be even more "impressive"? The day that ANY theater company actually casts an Arab in the role of Othello. A "moor" by the name and the times of those days was an Arab - NOT white, NOT african, NOT indian, etc. God forbid anyone should ever actually break with stereotypes and tradition and complete a play as WS actually wrote it.

Re: “Forty Years of Music

I'm going to this festival this year because of the line-up. I've been waiting far too long to get back to the basics of the blues and have a line-up that hasn't toured up and down the west coast for the past year. I do respect and appreciate all past performers but this year is a treat......
I'm disappointed, as I know many others are, for the Bohemian not to mention Bill Bowker and company when reporting about the Russian River Blues Festival?? He has worked harder than anyone to keep the blues alive in and around Sonoma County and I thank you for that Bill Bowker. Lola
