well since all news agencies are pushing their own agendas, i doubt that this 1 well ether.
An endowed chair? Really? "The purpose of the endowed chair is to foster greater understanding of the Native American culture and communities of California. This endowed chair was made possible through the $2.5 million donation from the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria."
Building a casino wouldn't have been on the minds of getting him his endowment now would it?
She marched with King? SFW! That doesn't enshrine her, just shows her political preference. She can go to SS and get a new card. Just more hand wringing from the politically correct. How long has this woman had to straighten out her lack of I.D.?
"Your lack of planning does not constitute and emergency for us"
reads the sign at the equipment rental window in our school.
Roseland is the Washington, D.C. of Santa Rosa. Everyone knows Roseland is where it's at, but nobody wants it to vote.
"If minorities are already well-represented in Santa Rosa, then why can't parents in the city's most predominantly Latino neighborhood get a simple crosswalk painted on the road in front of their children's school?"
Stop spreading the hate and division. Replace the word "minority" with "White" and you'll see the stupidity of your ideas. Is there some reason the parents can't lay two boards down and spray white paint between them to make a solid white line then pick the boards up and move them five feet and repeat it again? That's what we did at our school in a White neighborhood.
As a native of San Francisco, now here, I have seen district elections make San Francisco a laughing stock and a place where not only is there no consensus but you have the most corrosive parochialism at work.
"This is a Black District" This is a White District", this district is "reserved for a Latino."
Don't do it! I am voting no on Q and you should too.
Avoid Genetically Modified Food GMOs if you want to carry your baby to term!
Some of the GMO corn is a registered pesticide. Also, the special weedkiller that they are designed to be drenched with, kills fetal cells and causes spontaneous abortions.
Children having allergies and bowel discomfort may be reacting to GMOs.
Here's a short segment of a longer video about allergies:
Can someone please enlighten me as to why having an ID shouldn't be required by law? In the majority of countries around the world a valid ID is required to participate in all government programs, to vote and to receive government welfare. I'll give the 93-year old adopted lady who lost her purse a break, but why are so many young people whatever their ethnicity/race and economic background without a valid ID? I'll tell you the biggest reason... because they don't make it down to the DMV. I am not convinced that requiring IDs is a bad thing. Yes, it was a sneak attach by the right for this election and yes it screwed a lot of people out of voting, but go get a damn ID already. You shoulda done it when they told us about the law 6 months ago.
The family Mr. Sarris claims to be his has, according to the matriarch of the family Velia Navarro, no Native American blood at all. He is not an Indian. The stories Mr. Sarris has told about Ms. Navarro's family, including her beloved great grandmother and grandmother, are patently untrue and deeply offensive to the family. The casino project is an environmental catastrophe, which no amount of money will be able to put right. It has destroyed sensitive vernal wetlands habitat and the genetically unique Sonoma County Tiger Salamanders unfortunate enough to live on the casino footprint site. No other developer would have been able to build on this land, which was set aside as critical habitat for the salamander before casino construction began. No payments to the county will be made until 2014, if at all, as the tribe does not have to pay if it does not make enough profit. The tribe does not have to allow independent audits, including by state officials, to determine if it has made enough profit. These are all facts, and all verifiable.
I live in Roseland, and the new elementary school, Roseland Creek, has a nice bike path all the way through the West side -- so it's perplexing that the other school can't get a crosswalk painted. One thing I've noticed since moving here -- from Marin county -- is that helicopters fly over our side of the city almost NON stop. Lots of times they fly low, with search lights, and really disturb the peace. What is up with them polluting our airspace with noise, and cops constantly up and down the streets. They SHOULD allow us a district representative, because they sure see Roseland as an area in their jurisdiction. When it comes to cracking down, they're all over Roseland. Sure, we have our share of crime, but after four years here, what I see is hard-working families like ourselves, just trying to make a good life for our kids in Santa Rosa.
I dont understand why there is an advertisement for a date that passed?
Soooo.... am totally a secret admirer of the author, especially after the 5-10 minutes I spent loving this piece more and more ;-) All the g*damn good ones are married. great, well written piece that makes you want to follow this author and join the fanclub. love the realistic, no bullshit writing style, yet still humorous (well hilarious, actually) and optimistic.
It even made me want to do the next one. If you knew me, (the lazy, weakling ass self I am I think you would have a lot of respect for Scott and his piece. Lol. Good job to everyone who did that hell on earth activity and didnt die!
What a fun read! Thanks Scott and it was great to meet you yesterday.
Thanks for the cover shot, Mr. Brilliant! Glad you liked the story.
YES!!!!! While I'm still never going to run a Tough Mudder (the words 'Burning Man' are enough to keep me far, far away), I applaud the hell out of you for tackling this challenge with the sole motivator of getting to write about the misery later. ;)
On the surface this seems like something I'd support but the more I think about it, it's seems like a NO vote from me. Here's why:
-If you're not a deadbeat with the cheapo insurance like the General or Freeway, seriously how often do you really ever switch insurance companies? My parents have had AAA since 1974 and I've had the same insurance since I graduated from college. Other than the company being bought by Nazis, I don't know what will cause me to switch considering I'm happy with them,
-I've been hit too many times by deadbeats without insurance. Anything that makes it more expensive for these people, I'm against.

While Romney proselytizes about stopping women from having abortions and likes lots of births, he has represented a company that has been linked to possibly tens of thousands of spontaneous abortions and children never born.
What's the difference between using a vacuum cleaner to kill a fetus or killing it with chemicals?
" it’s alarming how little is known about critical chapters of his business biography. Nothing spells that out more clearly than his ties to Monsanto whose dark history features scandals involving PCBs, Agent Orange, bovine growth hormone, NutraSweet, IUD, genetically modified (GM) seed and herbicides, reaching back to the 1970s and ’80s. That’s when Monsanto was the largest consulting client of Romney’s employer, Bain & Company, and when Romney helped move Monsanto from chemical colossus to genetic giant, trading one set of environmental controversies for another."
"Roundup has long been a top-selling weed killer. But now researchers have found that one of Roundup’s inert ingredients can kill human cells, particularly embryonic, placental and umbilical cord cells."
Roundup ready crops are those that have been genetically modified to tolerate being drenched in Monsanto's patented and expensive weed killer. The built in pesticide producing genes in every cell of the plants also cause their own problems.
Don't get mad, get even.
Vote Yes on Proposition 37 to label Genetically Modified Food.
My hope is that any addict who suffers unsustainable symptoms can find peace and sobriety. My hat is off to all who are involved in aiding fellows in achieving freedom from addiction. Whatever works. Just don't drink or use today.
It is an excellent essay regarding hunting. This article is very much interesting.I like it.
It's easy to grow a lot of your own food once you have a garden established. Things like arugula, lettuce, berries and other vegetables can be grown wherever a lawn thrives. Goggle "how to grow food" for ideas on creating a garden.
This looks like a great event
