My name is Bob Daddi, I am a director of Ojai FLOW. We are in the process of removing our For-Profit-Water company. They have sued to stop an election for a Bon that will allow to us purchase and remove them, Please go to the OjaiFLOW web and contact us if we can give you any help. The only answer is to have elected CPUC members, not appointed. Call your Senator and Assembly person and ask for support, they should have a vested intrest.
how can i get the email of the author, since i would like to contact her. I am at gary at couple and wise (all one word).com
PS. I never got my holiday pie.
Where I work in WA. WDS starts at 11 an hour and we work about 2 6 hr days a week. More before a holiday. The only benefit we get is 401K after a year. However we make so little we can't afford to put anything in it. Supposed to get a .25 raise after a year, but they gave me the shaft. been there almost 2 years and got only .15 cent raise. They get paid $155 plus supplies for a demo. They could at least give us a free membership like they give the Costco employees. Separate but equal. We ain't equal.
Much praise to the author of this article, and much more to Marc Armstrong and Ellen Brown of the public banking Institute for starting this long overdue movement. Since I believe Dante was right that the worst places in hell are reserved for those with knowledge who do not act, if everyone reading this will offer to do a houseparty or otherwise donate themselves some volunteer time or a $100 (and those at the house party in turn team up with others to generate more house parties two or three weeks later, so each round of parties keeps doubling or tripling, we'll have enough money and volunteer power to make this happen. It could be great fun too if everyone brings a poem or copies of a song or a tasteful joke, etc. I'm volunteering today, and Hope you too will be writing marc@publicBankingInstitute.org.
My husband and I were going to make an offer on a house and move to Dillon Beach, until reading this article today. I am horrified by the greed of this company and the way these people are forced to live. I am all for water conservation, but upon exploring CalWater.com, I am surprised to say that usage isn't the issue. These people are reusing bath water and not cleaning their medical instruments, but the amount of water you use contributes very little to the actual amount billed. The size of your meter, the service charges, taxes and additional fees are where they are really gouging customers. These residents should be better informed about their bill breakdown. I am not in the area, but I would like to know how to get involved in changing how Cal Water treats these customers and expose the lack of oversight.
Come to Lucerne's Rally at Harbor Park, June 22nd Bring a picket sign and tell Cal-Water to get the hell out of our town!
Yes, I too would like PG&E to be compared with the 4 companies being considered by SCE. I am shocked at the heavy involvement in nuclear and would never support that. And i grew up in NYC with ConEd, which I associate with belching smokestacks. I suspect that PG&E might look angelic in a comparison with Con Ed. Although I spoke last night in favor of Petalumans having some choice, what I have read here is looking like "out of the frying pan and into the fire." I am concerned and would like to hear what Sonoma Clean Energy has to say about the advantages of going with their plan.
My goodness, this is the best story I have read in a long time. It was sent to me via the SRJC website which I am a member of. I will post this on SRJC Human Services Network to get the word out. Keep dreaming.
And I'd love it if PG&E were on this list, to weigh these companies fairly, and if Bohemian asked Sonoma Clean Power to talk about what it's like to try to buy cleaner power with a cheaper price in a market known for being dirty in general -- we as citizens just didn't push hard enough to demand a nation-wide clean energy supply, so now we're stuck with playing in the dirty muck of the energy market as it is.
I'm down in Long Beach and I'm starting to spread the word down here.
I like this article and I love the fact that the Bohemian is investigating something so important to all of us, but I'd love it EVEN MORE if your reporter looked into the labor practices of each company. You can't be a GREEN ENERGY provider if you don't pay workers decent wages and benefits and give them a voice at work (especially in jobs like this where public safety is at risk- do you want a worker to have to choose between speaking up about shoddy safety standards or losing his or her job?) Workers rights standards should be a part of any criteria in picking a "Green Energy Partner"
Why is it that nowhere in this story is AMGEN (the tour sponsor) mentioned as the manufacturer and clandestine provider of the primary drug in the scandal? Why do the riders get slammed over and over while the creator and pusher of EPO gets the publicity, and praise, for TOC despite being deeply and darkly implicated in some seriously ugly drug controversy? http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/armstr…
Power words that come from the heart!
The people who care need to coordinate with a bunch of friends with the right equipment and implements and cut the damn netting down yourselves. Do it at night if you have to. It should be obvious by now that these government idiots aren't going to do anything. Why are you surprised - it's what they do best.
You better get out there and help those birds or there will be thousands of dead ones in that netting. GET RID OF IT AND DO IT YOURSELf.
And if you are asked about it, respond like the governent agencies do: deny, deny deny.
“When the Swallows Come Back to Petaluma”
sung to the tune of “When the swallows Come Back to Capistrano”
When the swallows come back to Petaluma
That’s the time you need to to take down all those nets
When you look at the bridge in Petaluma
You will see poor little birds killed in the nets
All the people on the ground are calling all around
The cruelty it astounds even hearts made of lead.
When the swallows come back to Petaluma
That’s the time you need to to take down all those nets
If you care about birds in Petaluma
Please sign on, raise your voice, save the birds.
Meant the petition to remove the nets. It is located on the NSCC website (native songbird care & conservation).

Re: “Beaver Fever”
Beaver value to streams and habitat is becoming better understood. Their impact on coho and bird life is just the beginning. Folks interested in learning more about their effect and managing their many challenges should come to Martinez for the 6th annual beaver festival in August.
