Re: “Take It Outside

Napa Porchfest is the best (and the first) in the West! Thank you for this sweet article. Permit me to correct a couple of things in it:
The idea got rolling not during a comparison of regional architecture, but after a Facebook post on Jan. 11, 2011, about the proposed Porchfest in Somerville, Mass. — one of many in the East inspired by the original Ithaca Porchfest. Facebook users can see it at http://on.fb.me/Wc9xXg.
I commented that Napa didn't have enough porches, but was quickly corrected by friend and architect Juliana Inman, a city council member (now vice-mayor) and boardmember of a local preservation trust, who pointed out the city's many historic neighborhoods where porches are everywhere.
Music-loving Thea Witsil of Wildcat Vintage Clothing was the other person who jumped in right away to say "Let's do it here!"
We were soon joined by other community members including Rachael Clark, Mark Lucas of the Napa Bicycle Coalition and innkeeper Jamie Cherry; I wish I could list everyone.
Napa Porchfest was the first I ever attended and I still think it's the best, but this year I finally got to enjoy the Somerville fest that also started in 2011 and inspired all of us in Napa.

Re: “Family Talk

Just - Wow! I arrived in Sierra Leone in 1999 - we thought we had secured the peace through the LOME agreement, however, war was still raging up country and Freetown saw it's series of killing in the Streets. Bravo and Conrgatulations! Cannot wait to see the film and interview the filmmaker.

Re: “Under the Radar

Just to clarify some more, Ben Stephens and Gabriel Smith created Live Musicians Co-Op eight years ago, as they saw there was a great need for it. Nathan Prowse came along much later.

Re: “Under the Radar

Jus to clarify a few misunderstandings, Ben Stephens was the founder of the live musicians co-op and nathan prowse got on board to expand the place.

Re: “Cabaret Buffet

For the record, I have never been "the" producer of Good Hip Hop Monthly, I joined the ongoing monthly event in its 5th year in 2013 as a resident DJ and a promoter of the event. *** Much thanks for the interview and for a great article!

Re: “Under the Radar

The July 2nd show sounds rad! I'm glad LMC is helping bring back a decent music scene to Santa Rosa since there are already so many great bands, there just needs to be more great venues.

Re: “It's a Hoot

Well to be fair (HA!), Jesse Shantor and Adam Lessnau were the original creators of the name (or maybe there was someone before as well). Just another mystery about Santa Rosa's oldest tradition, as this is the 103rd Annual Hooligan Street Faire.

Re: “It's a Hoot

Thanks so much for the great article! Charlie, you are doing some amazing things for the community through your writing. I am really into your writing style as well - much thanks.

I just want to give credit to Kalei Yamanoha, a dear friend of mine who coined the term "Hooligan St. Faire."

See you all this weekend!

Re: “Out with the Old!

I agree that the old should be replaced. New technology is always better then old and lately the reliability is much better too. The manually way is no longer best.

The county thrives on young-blood, Hello?

This picture above looks like a 45 year-old, "witch."

And lots of history of "MDMA," observers from "Burning Man."
