Re: “Harvest Share

At Heritage Public House in Santa Rosa, we have found this as a good resource to offer fresh locally farmed products at our gastropub to local consumers while helping the farmers as well. It's a win for all concerned .

Re: “Torre's Touch

Don and I met friends for an excellent lunch at Canneti Roadhouse today! When you go, try the Fritto Misto, the Rabbit Ragu, or the sublime Gnocchi with Eggplant Ragu.

Re: “Taco Jackpot

My $100 check was not cashed until I passed the drug a d alcohol test, the casino background check and then the background check the gaming commission conducted. I then did all the employment processing paperwork with HR, then they cashed my check.

Re: “Taco Jackpot

The $100 is for a gaming license. Not the background check. Although you have to pass the background check to obtain the gaming license.

Re: “Taco Jackpot

I am questioning a $100 background check fee for applicants. it seems exorbitant. is this being mandated to candidates who are really on the fringe of actually being hired - or an "oh by the way" you might not get the job (even if your BC comes back clean)? fees for a solid BC don't have to be so much. this appears to be marked-up pricing. I 'get' that a candidate is entitled to keep the info later and could use it for another job if needed, but this is a high cost. it should be reimbursed, at least partially if one is hired and mandated only when management is 'pretty sure' they want this person. Can the PD or the NBBJ investigate the legality?

Re: “Tapped Out

TAPS is my favorite place in Petaluma. Good luck, Eric! We'll follow you wherever you end up. Too bad the landlord doesn't see the long term value in having the coolest spot in town be under his roof!

Re: “Making Change

Didn't they hire a company to do their roofing from Oakville?

Re: “Hot Out of the Oven

Jessica, "aplomb" (3rd paragraph, 1st line) means "poise". You used the term incorrectly here. You may open to many other things, e.g. applause, acclaim, horror, indifference, but you wouldn't open to aplomb.

Re: “Taco Jackpot

The sad part is that the casino's own study shows that local bars and restaurants will suffer a 13% loss of business after the casino opens. In an industry that operates on such a small profit margin, this will mean that businesses will be forced to shut down. That will mean loss of tax revenue, higher unemployment and an overall job loss that is typically found in communities that host casinos. The City of Rohnert Park has already predicted a $6.25 million loss of sales revenue and the resulting loss of tax revenue for the city ($511,000 in the first year alone) as a result of casino traffic. One win, lots of losses. Read "10 Things Every Business Owner Should Know About Casinos" at http://tinyurl.com/n3gujab
