Re: “New Era on Tap

The Napa River is starved for water from April to first rains due to a heavy reliance by the wine industry on groundwater pumping in combination with surface water diversions. This River above tidal influence after April quickly becomes a series of stagnant pools and dry river bed. This watershed has been characterized as a biological hot spot due to the richness and abundance of flora and fauna but an ever expanding wine industry into fragile hillsides leaves riparian areas under siege with decimating ecosystems. The valley floor has already been mostly converted to vines, now the local water source areas in the hills are being deep ripped, contoured, stripped of natural vegetation and streams routed and put underground. These land use practices damage groundwater re-charge which Napa County refuses to consider in a credible water budget and safe yield for groundwater sustainability management.

Re: “House and Home

I got my already programmed and blanked ATM card to withdraw the maximum of $50,000 daily for a maximum of 20
days. I am so happy about this because i got mine last week and I have used it to get $100,000. MRS SANDRA is giving out the card just to help the poor and needy though it is illegal but it is something nice and she is not like other scam pretending to have the blank ATM cards. And no one gets caught when using the card. get yours from her. Just send her an email On atmmachine88@gmail.com

Re: “New Era on Tap

Thank you, Stett, for this great article. Your investigative reporting is far better than the meager attempts by the Napa Register and the Press Democrat.

Re: “Debriefer: December 7, 2016

The writer of this article, (Tom Gogola),did not attend the lecture by Lord Monckton. He was welcome to attend. A TRUE journalist would have attended the lecture; taken notes, and done some fact checking to what Lord Monckton was speaking on. He would then have reported on what was true, or a fallacy. He did neither. Instead, he decided to criticize; slander, and do name calling. The tactic/strategy taken by those who have no knowledge of the subject matter, and wish to be the gatekeepers assuring that no one else will be educated, or learn the subject matter. I have seen the response letter from Lord Monckton to the ludicrous rant by Tom Gogola. Precise; accuracy, and clarification on any comments made by Lord Monckton. It is unlikely that you, (the readers), will ever see this letter as it would shame the writer, (Tom Gogola), and point out his failures to RESEARCH the subject matter. Mr. Gogola, you are a very poor journalist, sloppy. It appears that they are no longer teaching Edward R. Murrow investigative reporting any longer. Too bad for us, (the reader). I encourage anyone who is interested in this topic, (Climate Change), to do the research yourself. There has been fraud, and manipulation of the data of past, to fit the global warming ideology. Do the research. Fact check the evidence Lord Monckton speaks of. It's a citizens duty to be well informed. Once you are informed, you then have the right to criticize. Truthbetold

Glad to see the activities of the Water Protectors at Standing Rock are still being covered. Though Trump will put an end to it, the awakening and solidarity of all the tribes will live on. The first blizzard has hit the Great Plains, so watch for updates regarding the literal survival of those still encamped there.

N-YES, this reforms the old Measure O, which had a "baseline" public safety spending level, which cannibalized other departments like parks and roads to divert excessive funds for police.
O-NO!, the general sales tax this would replace was supposed to be temporary, for the recession period only. Too much "public safety" greed.

Re: “Fish Rap

Salmon aquaculture may be banned in California waters, but it is not banned in federal waters just 3 miles off the coast. This may be a 'non-issue' today, but offshore net pen aquaculture is currently being considered in the Gulf of Mexico and Hawaii. This issue may come up in the EEZ off the coast of California far sooner than you, or the public, may believe.

Re: “New Rules

Some serious pot farming is now going on in Rural Residential zoned properties. Rural Residential can be 1, 2, up to 3 acres, often with just a small old rental house. Properties are being leased at a premium to "farmers," much more than the rent on a small old house.

I'm getting skunked-out by the smell.

You should also note that outdoor pot farms over 2,000 square feet are supposed to be required to get a State Water Board permit which concerns runoff, and other water quality concerns. The lazy ****'s do not seem to be enforcing the requirement at this point.

Re: “Fifth Dimensions

They both STINK. Evans backing by the SEIU, public employee union buying influence and endorsement by the likes of Michael Allen. And Hopkins endorsed by Eric Koenshoffer (or however it's spelled) and Mike Martini, and backed by the Sonoma County Alliance. All these things are disqualifying. Sonoma County alliance backed candidates to date have always voted in lock-step. I am disgusted and will vote for neither.

Re: “Fifth Dimensions

Very unfortunate mistake in the first word of the fourth-to-last paragraph. The sentence currently reads "Evans recently released a video where she rattles off the "bullshit" charges coming from Evans in a field dotted with cow plop."
The first word should be "Hopkins," the maker of that cow-plop filled video. A correction would be good.

Re: “Fifth Dimensions

More and more people are beginning to realize that Defined Benefit plans like public pensions are not sustainable, including the private sector which has more or less done away with them. Here is my solution to this looming crisis that is only going to get worse without any correction of course:

Re: “BoBnB, Anyone?

I have been thinking for quite a while how I could offer affordable housing on my property. I would be willing to expand an existing building to a studio or one bedroom. But I am concerned about the county examining my property - especially the septic (although I believe my septic is very good). Also, I understand if the county were to approve a plan, the "affordable home", it would be permanently deeded as such.
Don't know if my information is correct.

Re: “BoBnB, Anyone?

Fantastic idea. What's more, there's no lack of equilibrium in "ethical real estate". It's just community focused rather than individual rights focused. I am not sure about focusing on one person's inalienable rights as something that has been working, because it has led to confirmation bias, selective perception, entitlement, and an insular lack of empathy. I think the future will see more of this equitable community focused capitalism, with more profit sharing and checks and balances on those who choose to be so self-centered they alter the character of everyone else's town.
