Re: “Saying Goodbye to Jim DePriest

Jim Depreist was one of my favorite teachers at Long Beach City College in the early 70's. He always had an encouraging word and that amazing sense of humor. I've been in Napa for 36 year, I didn't know he was a county away. I did a google search and find he's gone. I haven't seen him in years but now feel a huge hole.

Re: “HenHouse Brewing Finds New Home in Santa Rosa

HenHouse's products are of high quality. I believe it needs to develop and go for national level. I had to complete a paper on marketing campaign for http://hireessaywriter.org/ and picked up this company. This is amazing how well they dealt with everything! There work real professionals who know exactly what they are doing.

Re: “City Winery to Leave Napa

Just came back from Nashville and that City Winery seems to be doing okay. Here's the problem with the Napa venue in my opinion. The room was okay, but you were racked and stacked like airline passengers with a mostly Napa crowd who on the night I was there (Steve Earle) didn't seem to have a clue about the music but were Wine industry social climbers there to show off how "hip" they were. Chairs were so close I could hear the heart beat of the insurance agent sitting next to me. The whole thing just felt contrived.

Re: “City Winery to Leave Napa

So sorry to hear this. CityWinery was the best thing to happen to Napa in a very, very long time. I loved the venue.

Re: “The Guerneville Flood Project: Alex and Jane of Tinker's Tapes

Alex "Tinker" Laszlo was an old friend from a group of people that we used to all play the same virtual reality game at night in the mid-late 1990's, Blaxxun/Pointworld. Tinker was pretty good at making content for that game actually, which was difficult to do. I had helped him build an entire virtual world based on the Russian River area he lived in, for some benefit to the local paper. Russian River Times, I believe. Based on that relationship and your thread here, I decided to look him up while on a visit to the area. The people at the last known address on Rio Nido that I could find, #14700, indicated that sadly "Mikey's father Alex had passed away a few years ago". I have no further info, proof or otherwise.

I will say that since I went there, though I had never seen the area before and the online content no longer exists, Tinker did a great job duplicating it online. It really felt like I had been there before.

Re: “Help Kurt Stenzel Heal!

I wil definitely help soon. I am in a financial situation due to the flippancy of the film biz. Frank Pavich's documentary : Jodorowsky's Dune is a masterful piece and honest. I have watched it over 5 times, when i am searching for inspiration, but Kurt's sountrack, soundscape truly elevates this documentary to a much higher level. Kurt is a truly gifted Artist. He will elevate himself as a being, past this derailment in the form of a stoke, because he is gifted and has the will to create more beautiful music and sounds for us humans to hear! And also because he has a loving supportive wife and children and family! I just hope that the Jodorowsky's have helped him. That ' shit' money ( which is true, but sadly, a reality) that Alejandro draws out of his pocket, in the film, should go to Kurt. Anyway, within the next month I will make a donation. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Re: “Cosby Canceled at Wells Fargo Center

Notice that they had the "promoter" do the canceling for them.

This makes the Wells Fargo Center board wimps.

Re: “The 1986 Guerneville Flood Photo Project

I remember it well!
Scott Kersnar, Steve Pizzo, And Connie Schlabach owned and operated the Russian River News and put out an issue that week. Connie and John DeSalvio did layout, he and Frank Remkoweitz were the cartoonists. Scott and Steve were able to get the RRN print pages out the back way and over the Sweetwater Springs Rd until they were stopped by a landslide. They then walked thru the slide to another waiting car from the other side and finished the drive to Healdsburg to the printers.
That issue of the RRN went out with the Safeway insert and with their flood pictures became a valuable collectors item.
I believe The Paper was flooded.
I and two of our children, in the meantime, hosted friends Manure Man and a very nervous Tiana Lee, whose clothing store Changes, and home we're flooding. Some of us walked, waded and boated into town daily to help out, assess damages and rubberneck. We had "freezer soup" meals with our neighbors at night by candlelight, and hung our rainwear and socks in the living room to dry near the wood stove.
After, came the back breaking cleanup of friends stores, homes and Southside resort. Don't ever try to carry a mud soaked wall to wall carpet!
Fond community coming together memories.

It's so wonderful to see that this show was cancelled. Or postponed. Or whatever they want to call it.

Before we blame the ignorant parents, first look at the makers and retail outlet that sold that item and made a financial profit.

Re: “Rohnert Park: The Walmart Friendly City

There was no legal reason to deny. If the City Council had denied, Walmart could have sued, and overturned the denial in court, then gone ahead and built anyway.

The bias of the liberal media establishment never ceases to amaze me, but the onesidedness of this report reaches new heights. Or is it "plumbs new depths?"
