HA. Wait until the employees see the sticker shock of the union dues and the phone calls that do not get returned when they have an issue. They voted in the union but there is no contract. Meaning they have no idea what they voted for. As a current union member at the Petaluma Sheraton, I can say that Wei-Ling Huber is a very bad leader who calls dues paying members racist if they oppose or question her. They have just been charged by thge NLRB with violating fair labor practice for not informing members of their Beck Rights, a civil right that allows members to not pay for the unions political contributions and activities not related to member representation. This results in a 70% reduction in union dues. See the Facebook page - Petaluma Sheraton Employees Association page for more details.

Agreed. Agreed. Agree. Agree. And for this commenter: AGREED!
Pat…the sprinklers going 24/7 DO happen….and there is no one to call, I tried! The Ag Commissioner, the County, there is no one monitoring winery OVERUSE of water. This drought is very serious and likely to get worse. It's time we start charging growers that take water directly from our rivers and streams…right now they get it for free with no one monitoring how much they are taking! It really pisses me off when people living in the "wine bubble" try to put the blame on residents who have a tiny patch of lawn or a veggie garden. The jobs and money argument also falls flat. The time for using greed as an excuse to harm our environment is over! Water is a public trust resource-it belongs to the public-not the private (and often corporate) wineries that profit from it.
I don't know where Daisy is seeing sprinklers on in vineyards 24/7. It DOES NOT HAPPEN! If she is really seeing this she should notify someone. I think that you better take a look around and see which of your neighbors are irrigating their yards and watering lawns that are only for looks. The farmers are continuously using the newest technology to monitor their water use and to conserve. Keep in mind that this is an agricultural community. Yes, wine grapes are the main crop and the wine industry is directly related to a minimum of 55,000 employees in Sonoma County. I think that you should also note that the Russian River is a Managed Water System. If there were no reservoirs the river would be dry right now and the people that would be most affected are the ones that get their water from the municipalities that use the most water, to irrigate landscape.
More oversight is needed on wine water use! Around Healdsburg we're seeing overhead sprinklers in vineyards on 24/7 for days at a time. Not all growers are conserving! Check out this trailer for a film due out next month: Russian River, All Rivers. https://vimeo.com/101429442 It will delve into the facts of the wine industries water use in the North Bay area.
Boo-hoo, the poor men don't get their sex anymore. Funny how nobody cares about women's sex "needs." Whatever.

Sonoma Clean Power "made geothermal deals in recent months with the big-industry likes of Calpine and Constellation/Exelon in the Geysers." Calpine is one of the operators at The Geysers project in Sonoma and Lake Counties. Constellation (which merged with Exelon in 2012) is not one of the operators at The Geysers or any geothermal project in California. In fact, geothermal is barely mentioned on their website: www.constellation.com. Constellation is headquartered in Pennsylvania.
On Community Choice energy..
AB 2145 as amended still has exactly the same purpose; to entrench the corporate monopoly utilities and undermine competition from local community based clean energy programs.
1) Geographic Barriers: With its 3 county restriction, AB 2145 would prevent cities and counties from grouping together to serve larger numbers of customers in order to buy and generate energy at lower bulk rates and compete on electricity prices with the huge monopoly utilities. Under this draconian restriction, many small, rural, and lower income communities, would find it impossible to launch Community Choice programs, because they would be forced to do so on their own with a much smaller customer base. It is outrageously anti-competitive to limit the size and buying power of these programs when the monopoly utilities have no such restrictions at all.
Ability to grow is crucial. When Marin’s program expanded to bring in thousands of customers in the working class city of Richmond, rates for customers went down; and Marin’s planned inclusion of Napa County is projected to lower customer rates by 3%, while still delivering a greener energy mix than PG&E. If AB 2145 becomes law, cities and counties all over California will be blocked from repeating Marin’s successes.
2) Bureaucratic Interference: AB 2145 creates a minefield of bureaucratic restrictions to Community Choice programs designed to make it extremely difficult for them to survive. AB 2145’s requirement that Community Choice programs provide exact rates for customers for five years in advance (while the monopoly utilities would only be required to project rates for five years) would be an outrageous double standard, and impossible for any energy provider to meet. It would expose Community Choice programs to endless lawsuits over changing rates that could shut down every single one of them.
AB 2145 also takes customer relations oversight away from local accountable elected officials and staff, and places it in the vast state level bureaucracy of the CPUC. No other local public water or power systems are placed under such a heavy handed, distant, state agency governing process. These two provisions are nothing but flagrantly purposeful bureaucratic barriers meant to hamstring fair competition from Community Choice programs.

Good job T. Google and the Bohemian for exposing these cronies. "I blended in" as a gang member, wow. I'm disgusted. Wouldn't it be nice if we could trust them?
Amigo Orr - thanks for the headsup, we've fixed that typo!
Thompson.BLM.DOI.Dillon.Kunze.Tuleyome.Boxer.Feinstein. are the pack which contributed to/directed the destruction of Lake Berryessa. Their goal has been to eliminate family recreation and motorized boating. The FEIS/Financial Plan stated that Plan B was not financially feasible – yet Thompson/Dillon pushed for it. Then Stimulus Funds were used to destroy infrastructures, marinas and all facilities.
Thompson/Boxer Bills to create Berryessa Snow Mountain NCA/Monument is incongruous with the Thompson/Dillon pretense that they want recreation at the Lake. This has been/ continues to be a Land/Water/ Resource [Billions$$] Grab. BLM has become an agency of Land Control. BOR is the agency which needs to solve the problem in obligation to the guiding document [Public Use Plan- 2006 VSP].
Thompson/Dillon Orwellian Speak is rhetoric of distraction and distortion. Neither have good intentions for the Lake Berryessa Community and the Lake which is a Regional Asset / Boater Destination.
FYI - The word "management" is spelled wrong in the title.
(Will proposed federal managment save Lake Berryessa?)
Well Tom ...Norman Solomon is not exactly the best judge of any Democrat. He does not know the Party or it's Leadership. He spent his life as a self appointed critic of Dems. He has only been a registered Dem since 2007. Before that he was was active in in the Green PArty and helped Ralph Nader challenge Gore in 2000 (and electing Bush in the process). He did attempt to capitalize on his minor celebrity among the left by running for office once in his life but he was beaten by someone he labeled a corporate dem (Jared Huffman) and a Republican. Solomon,if you've read his extremely unpopular columns over the years, has called nearly every Democrat at the national level be they holding office as President, Vice President, Senator, Congressional member, or just a candidate for president ...a "corporate democrat". So now Levine is labeled the same way Solomon has labeled Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Barack Obama ,Jerry Brown, Gavin Newsome, both of our state senators, Jared Huffman and 100 other prominent and historical leaders of the Democratic Party. He published an entire book in the 90's that was a hateful screed against the Clinton's. Solomon left the Green Party because it's leaders would not agree to his dictates and their candidates had no hope of ever winning an election other than a local one. After abandoning the Greens, he joins the Dems and starts "judging" it's leaders using an agenda that appears to be more appropriate for one of the other parties that does not welcome business, care about jobs, or understand our economy. The chairs of the local Central Committee's for both Marin and Sonoma County authored a Close to Home column criticizing him two years ago when he misrepresented Rep. Huffman's record for political gain. But ultimately, The Dems win here and throughout California because by being a big tent Party and not as narrow minded as some of its newer members like Mr. Solomon.
Sonoma County Court. you can read the documents they are all there.
what court were the charges filed in?
Might The Bohemian explain the nature of Doolan's charges (what happened) or a reference to it?
So how much is this going to cost, and who is going to pay for it? America used to be a work hard and get ahead society, now it is a sue somebody and get ahead society. I guess I will have to get mine, before it runs out.
I would have appreciated an article on recommendations of the Bohemian editorial team for the current election. The Press Democrat had a few recommendations as did the SF Chronicle. As the leading liberal journal in the North Bay, your input on the election was missed. Please do so for the big election in November.
