My first, and basically only, thought, reading this article, was I hope to God he doesn't reveal ALL of the precious secret spots that we have been fishing in the area since we were kids. There's already too many people out there and now, for instance, I can just see the Bolinas shore cheek to jowl with Sunday fisher people. There should be a law against publicly revealing time-honored and sorely won fishing, foraging and hiking spots that are the domain of children and those grown ups who had to "hang out"as children with the other children in-the-know. Instant knowledge is no fair. Aaaaaargh.
In the terse, anti-Lynda Hopkins letter, the writer opined that she should not be running for county supervisor, because she is the mother of two young girls.
Does he mean that she should not work outside of her home? Would he say the exact same thing if it were her husband who was seeking this county job? Haven't we gotten beyond such antiquated thinking?
Simplistic either/or arguments are in vogue: the woman can apparently either choose to be a good mother or a good supervisor, but not both. To the contrary, Lynda Hopkins is an excellent mom, and she will--simultaneously--be an excellent supervisor.

I've seen Shelby perform several times, and I'm always struck by how engaging a performer she is. When she first comes out in stage, you wonder what the hell is this little thing doing up there. Then....pow! She explodes into song and it's immediately apparent that it's going to be a fun night. She's earnest, quick witted, and writes songs with catchy choruses that will stay with you. She always reminds me that music can be a fun, shared experience. Kudos to her and all she's working for. She makes me proud of our North Bay music scene.
Ha...big learning curve.
