The Emperor has no clothes.
I attended the Karina Gauvin concert tonight. My first time in the concert hall. I find it bland, clinical, and far from cozy. The seats leave a lot to be desired for a long concert, and the acoustics, that everyone is wetting themselves over, were mediocre at best. I sat in the middle, the back and the front sections. They each had their merits but nowhere was the sound great. Now Karina speaks pretty quietly I'll admit, but niether my wife or I could understand a word from the 14th row and had to move to the 7th row to hear her speak. You sit in a spiritually cold room, looking out into the lobby in seats that start to wear after a while. It may be great when it's finished, but I wont rush back. For $145M this place should be more comfortable than any decent concert hall. It's possibly the most un-user-friendly concert hall in the world.
