Having had a few years membership in NRA I finally decided to just say no to the BS and quit them. All they want is more $$$. I asked them why didn't they ask Bush and Cheney for a few million after they walked out with over 11 billion in war profits from their watch.
I do own a collection of semi auto rifles and WWII combat rifles that are not for hunting. I like to go out and burn off a few clips and I do keep the weapons for self protection. I hunted a lot as a boy until a tour in Vietnam which caused me to swear to never take another life be it animal or human unless it was to save a life, mine or anothers.
I served as a fed LEO for some years and never fired my arms once while on duty. I was with a fellow LEO who shot a unarmed man carrying a surveyors stake he was carving on to make a play sword for his little boy. Officially the guy charged the trigger happy LEO with a sword? Shooter was exonerated from any charges as it was a clean shooting, even though the victim was not wanted on any warrant we went to serve at wrong address. I'll wager money most hunters aren't members of NRA or Tea Party members. We all cannot be John Wayne or Rambo. But some of us did serve our country and experienced what a firearm can do to another human being. I still have nightmares about it. To blame Obama for all the firearms sold to Mexico is a joke. It is a no brainer that firearms dealers on the borders of Texas and Arizona are the real blame. But hey don't go there it is all about American free enterprise, right?
Just because something is legal, doesn't make it right. Legality is a cop-out for when something smells bad, and feels wrong. If it looks bad, and smells bad, then there is something in there that's rotten. Trust your nose.
And just because you were never employed as a contractor, is not a reason to discount someone's opinion on this matter. Those trees belonged to the public, period. What their value is relative to the size of the project does not diminish their importance, nor does it diminish the stench, public or private.
Sounds like a good place to stay away from. Never heard of most music performers? What happened to the Dream Bowl concerts with three top bands for $2?
What a fantastic article, so very insightful. Thank you,
The wisdom of one's body is the best guide as to how one should eat. Some of us need to eat prior to beginning in earnest our day; some of us need protein, but can do without carbs and fat, at the start of the day; others can go for many hours after waking up without any negative, and perhaps possible, effects.
Nearing 60, I don't need to eat "first thing in the morning" like I did twenty or more years; and, not eating until noon, or later, feels right for me.
We do well by our body by listening to it about hunger—genuine hunger versus anxiety-induced or other psychologically-induced "need" to eat.
If you're not hungry at your traditional breakfast time, don't eat.
Thanks for another point of view about breakfast's necessity, one of many food and eating myths having achieved inappropriate unquestioned and potentional harmful status among too many of us.
Steve Pile is not only extremely talented, he is a committed teacher, sharing his many gifts. Glad to see this article about him.
If this year's event is anything like last year's - it's a must attend, especially if you like vodka cocktails and lots of people dressed to have lots of fun.
Really great event last year and, with Speakeasy theme, it should be even better this year!
Great event! Can't wait!
Sorry to the Guayaki supporters, but this was a great and very funny read. It's worth looking at how the people who first made use of Yerba Mate and how they regard what we've done with it. Reminds me a bit of how tobacco was used traditionally and what we've done with it since.
Whoa! I just hope that i can meet the people behind Tattoomodern.com because they are really awesome in Female Tattoo designs. (crossed fingers) LOL!^^,
OMG!! This is great event where everyone can get some hints on female tattoo designs! Hope that i can go there despite of my hectic schedule.
Here's Helen's website: www.helensedwick.com
http://www.yerbamate.com/ really, they are awesome. you NEED to check out their tea!! I love their Yerba Mate!!!
Boo Boo Hiss to the uninspiring cover story written by Jay Schafer. His angle of traditionalism from the Argentine perspective seemed to be just a thinly veiled dislike of the Guayaki company. It was petty and very unsupportive of a local company.
Great place to get your music and support a local vendor!
FYI, EcoTeas sells more loose organic yerba mate in the United States than all other yerba mate brands combined.
Is there a point in here somewhere?
To all who listen:
we all have mothers and fathers. When is the time when profit makes them homeless?
Since I'm the band leader, my rating should be suspect, so I made it neutral. But I wanted to share some comments received from dancers at the last Penngrove gig:
"It was a blast last time at the pub".
"Les Amis tore the house down last night."
Boy that feels good.
