Re: “Getting Saucy

Yes, yes, yes the comments are now rolling in two weeks later from the people Saucy has forced to write wonderful, glowing words, including the STAFF that is paid by the restaurant to do so. Hmmmm....sounds very familiar, just like Yelp, Trip Advisor, and everything else. Face it people: you are dealing with a fragile, intimidating ego that must be stoked -- or else. And when you are telling everybody your business is down 20 to 25 percent from the previous year it is not because people in the town aren't hungry.

Re: “Getting Saucy

As a frequent traveler to N Ca there has never been a place to dine north of Healdsburg. Not any more! For the first time we now have a San Francisco quality restaurant. Fresh, creative and boasting local food. Saucy is a food oasis. Great craft beer, regional tap wines and servers who care. Thanks for discovering the dining secret of N Ca!

Re: “Line in the Sand

Sonoma Coast Surfrider is meeting this Thursday evening and every first Thursday of the month at 7:30 at Papas & Pollo in Sebastopol. We will continue to fight for free and safe access to our beaches but would really appreciate community support and people who care about this issue showing up at the meetings. We are looking to form a committee to work on free access and we are only asking for your time and effort. Please join us and contact sonomacoastsurfrider@comcast.net for more information.

Free Our Beaches!!!

The State Parks Dept. already tried this in the early 1990's, and the fisherman's wives group blockaded Bodega Head. That is where our memorial to fishermen lost at sea is located, near the West Lot. Please sign the change.org petition to the Coastal Commission to deny the State Parks' application to install "iron rangers" on the Sonoma Coast - Link here

Re: “Getting Saucy

Saucy is my favorite pizza place in Northern California. Great pizza as well as salads, meatballs, sandwiches, etc. Cynthia is a wonderful, energetic, creative person. Don't miss her pizza making class if she offers it again.

Re: “The Bibliophile

The stuff on which we write is either parchment or vellum, which are sometimes interchangeable. However, the evidence for the etymology of the word seems conclusive in that we look to different languages for fine writing material. In Latin we have Vitellus, in Italian, Vitello. In Frech it is Veau. In the last two citations, we can find the words on menus. It would seem logical to read vellum as calf skin. As for parchment, Oxford scholars feel the name was derived from the settlement of Pergamum, found in Magna Grecia along the southwest coast of Italy. Alas, languages get "dumbed down" to indiscriminate word usage and it would seem that now both writing materials are often interchangeably.

Re: “Retrospect Gallery

This furniture is just junk. It smells and they overcharge for what they offer. The shop keeper is usually eating or drinking when you go in and has no time to help with questions. Will not be going in again, nor will I recommend to my other designer friends.

Re: “True Blues

It's not that the fans don't want new recordings, it's the radio DJ's that haven't given them much play with new discs. We fans would love a new recording once a month I'm sure!! However, as you said, Gillian, Justin and John, I believe, will continue to give us something new as time and effort permit. They are so busy touring right now and then Justin will be doing a solo tour across the Northeast that it's hard to find time to record. However, Justin has said he believes he has at least one more CD to publish that will give him a chance to express his own personal feelings - something he can't do under The Moody Blues name. And John has said that he is planning something really special for the 50th anniversary of DOFP in 2017! Plus next year will be the official 50th anniversary of this incarnation of The Moody Blues. So who knows what's ahead? I would just start saving my money for something spectacular from this legendary band with fans all over the world! SIWL, Arline
