Re: “Daily Acts Talk: Greywater 101 - What is it and is it for me?

Talk: Greywater 101 - What is it and is it for me?

Drought is on and the City of Healdsburg has adopted Stage 2 Mandatory Water Conservation Measures for all water customers with the goal of reducing water consumption by 20 percent from 2013 use. Join us to learn how installing a greywater system can give you double-duty out of the water you've already paid for and help reach these reduction goals.

We'll explore the different legal sources of greywater in your home, as well as simple, low-tech systems to reuse greywater for landscape irrigation. We’ll discuss code compliance, city incentives, system design and plant selection, with an emphasis on the easy to install Laundry-to-Landscape system. A Laundry-to-Landscape system does not require a plumbing permit and offers the average family of four the opportunity to reuse 7,000 - 15,000 gallons of water per year. You'll leave this presentation empowered with the knowledge to assess whether a greywater system is a fit for your home!

The presentation is an introduction to our hands-on Greywater Installation Workshop (held on June 28, 2014) and is highly recommended for anyone considering do-it-yourself installation of a Laundry-to-Landscape system.

Re: “Medical Cannabis Forum with local D.A. cannidates Jill Ravitch and Victoria Shanahan

The District Attorney plays a very important role in the county in determining how medical cannabis patients, caregivers, and collectives interact with the legal system. The DA holds the power to decide which cases go to court and which are dismissed. With so many cases currently pending, voters want to know where the candidates stand on these issues. The forum presents an opportunity to hear both candidates’ positions on a number of relevant, local, medical cannabis issues. Moderating the debate will be Ernie Carpenter, former Sonoma County Supervisor. A question and answer period will follow the candidates’ statements.

The candidates have received a questionnaire and their answers will be available to the public on April 23. They will also receive another set of questions that we plan to ask that night.

Since 2002 long time patient advocacy groups, Sonoma Alliance for Medical Marijuana (SAMM) and Sonoma County Chapter of Americans for Safe Access (ASA) have sponsored this public forum. This year they are joined by newly formed PAC, Citizens for Responsible Access (CRA).

On June 3rd the voters of Sonoma County will decide who will fill the role of District Attorney for the next 4 years. Please vote on June 3!

Re: “Cycle For Sight Rotary Ride for Veterans

Even if you don't chose to ride one of the three rides - 15, 25, or 50 miles, the post ride wine festival is a blast - many wineries participating, food booths, silent auction and music to dance to should it so move you - a great afternoon in the wine country - Topped by the cause it was created to support - The Pathway Home program literally saves the lives of the Veterans - there is not another program out there - yet - like it, and it involves the families of the Veterans and seemingly the entire Napa Valley community. The Napa Rotarians put on a great event -
