Although you may consider it one of your lesser achievements, the 24 Hour Band Contest is the coolest thing I have ever participated in during my time in Santa Rosa. I cannot fully relate, as a new resident, how much of an impact it had on my Sonoma County experience. Participating in that one night (July 14, 2012) exponentially expanded my circle of friends, musical and otherwise. There I met Deborah, our wonderful singer, who convinced me to attend California Brazil Camp that summer, during which I studied and jammed with percussion masters Mauricio Zottarelli and Airto Moreira. During the contest I was also befriended by random band mates Teed, the stick master, as well as Andy G., inventor of the Slaperoo, and of course Dan, a fine drummer in his own right. You couldn't have drawn a cooler (or weirder) mix from the hats.
Thanks for all you've done to foster the good vibes in this community. May your journalistic saber remain sharp and continue to shred through The Bullshit. See ya at the record store.
I moved to Sonoma County two years ago, partly due to the fact that it's the home of Bear Republic, Russian River, and especially Lagunitas. Now I'll have to seek out some HenHouse!
Who will be playing drums?
Frank & Ernie's is evolving into a cool little joint. Very intimate place to see a performer. Props to KC for keeping the live music scene going!
For those in Healdsburg who want to party locally check out the Old School Funk and Disco Party at Frank & Ernie's Steakhouse (9 Mitchell Ln) featuring DJ Terpenoid and DJ Bank$hot spinning the best rare grooves mixed with dashes of electronica, Brazilian groove and selected modern classics.
Although I'll admit I'm not familiar with the music, as good as it may be, it seems to some that the film is less documentary and more embellished. Just check out what Bob Lefsetz says about it. http://lefsetz.com/wordpress/index.php/arc…
Congratulations to all the winners as well as the spontaneous talent that erupted on that stage. Thank you to the judges and audience for such an overwhelming response to our project, formerly known as "band #5". As Gabe announced the night of the event we have, indeed, decided to enter into a relationship as a "real" band. Keep an ear out for DyaTribal.
