According to the American Heritage College Dictionary, third edition, there is a surprising assortment of definitions for the word sweat, including one verb usage that describes the slow steaming of vegetables. There are, to be precise, 29 separate definitions for sweat, and any way you count them, that's a whole lot of variants for the secretion of perspiration through the pores. Not that this comes as a shock to the hard-pushing joggers and hikers, swimmers and boaters, horseback riders and rock climbers of Sonoma County; having so many ways to sweat is one of the reasons we live here.
