Organically Grown Wines

By Mari Kane

All of these organically grown wine producers are locally owned, many are family-run, a few are incorporated, and none are publicly traded.

Entirely Organically Grown

Bonterra Vineyards: Mendocino County. A division of Fetzer, this is the largest producer of organically grown wine. Tasting room open to the public.

Frog's Leap: Napa Valley. Their website is a hoot! Tasting room open to the public.

Lolonis Vineyard: Redwood Valley. Pre-Prohibition family winery. No tasting room.

Madonna Estate/Mont St. John: Carneros. Pre-Prohibition family-owned winery. Tasting room open to the public.

Yorkville Cellars: Yorkville Highlands above Anderson Valley. Tasting room open to the public.

Partially Organically Grown

Benziger: Sonoma Valley. Family winery that went boutique after selling their Glen Ellen label in 1993. Tasting room open to the public.

Briceland Vineyards: Humboldt County. Tasting room open by appointment.

Davis Bynum: Russian River. A family winery. Tasting room open to the public.

Everett Ridge Vineyards: Dry Creek Valley. A historic pre-Prohibition winery. Tasting room open to the public.

Fife: Redwood Valley. Owned by the Fifes of Napa Valley. Tasting room with an awesome view of Clear Lake is open to the public.

Wild Hog Winery: Sonoma Coast. Family-owned and so isolated you can barely get a vehicle down their road. Don't even try.
