Re: “Oct. 7: Calabash-A Festival of Gourds, Arts and Gardens at Food for Thought

Please note that yellow crookneck squash is now being genetically modified by having different species genes from bacteria and virus inserted into its DNA.

That means in addition to corn, sugar beets, soybeans and canola and all the thousands of products made from them eating this squash can laterally transfer the bioengineered genes into your stomach flora and make them continuing producing the pesticide in your stomach.

Oh well, at least the insects and worms will die in your belly. Of course your children can get allergies, autism, leaky gut syndrome and other autoimmune conditions from this. You may get prostate and breast cancer and other conditions like fatique and premature aging. It's a risky gamble with you winning nothing but supposedly pest free food and the house winning every time in the extra expenses to grow these crops and as a bonus, the money from selling the special herbicide that the plants can resist and are drenched with.

It would be nice if genetically modified foods were labeled.
Vote Yes on Prop 37 to label them.

This youtube video, the 84 minute version, will educate about this.

Great event! Thanks to all of the performers, vendors, community organizations, recreation and parks, santa rosa police, and the DIG Youth Leaders who worked so hard to make this event a success.

Re: “Feb. 22: Willie Brown at SRJC

Nice feature in the Press Democrat today about Willy.

Never doubt he continues to be a power broker and clothes rack.

> Out Of Power, But Still A Power Broker <

"Wilkes Bashford, of the renowned clothing store here that bears his name, places a John Lobb suede oxford, size 11, marked down to $1,650, on the table at Le Central.

"It's a gorgeous color," says Willie Brown".............

"the young boy who grew up in segregated Mineola, Texas, in the 1940s, his grandmother once a slave, his mother a domestic servant, who had to scrabble for everything he achieved.".......

........."How much of this can be traced to his childhood deprivation? "All of it, all of it, all of it," he says."

.........""Obviously it's not going to be a shoe that every man is going to buy and understand," a salesman tells him.
"OK. OK, I'll take them," Brown says."

I grew up poor and understand the dynamic.......
but at $1650.I would have asked for a friendly discount! ;- }

Well said! I like your philosophical description; that's exactly how so many of us feel about Sweetwater. It's great to have this jewel of a venue in Mill Valley again.

Re: “Dec. 11: 'Sutro's: The Palace at Land's End' at the Rafael Film Center

Will this be shown again? Would love to see it but just can't make it today... We loved exploring the ruins with our kids when they were young and imagining all that went on, such history.
