Re: “Bill Ayers

Reading this now, and knowing Raskin since 1975 when he came out of the jungles and wrote a book on B. Travin, I can only say: "phew". And we know the story of how B. Traven's wife was tricked.

Raskin was a subprime player in the sixties. He capitalizes on the sixties by living the lives of his heroes vicariously through writing about them. He is a coffin bedder.

When we, those of us who banded together in the 70's, took over the City of Cotati where Raskin defecated and ate, he did nothing.

From rent control to using Hewlett Packard, from work door to door, Raskin was never there. He never supported the Peace and Freedom Party, which was alive and well in Sonoma County. He never lifted a petition. He never fought for rent control, which we passed despite of him. No, he is a true poser.

He basted in the sun, charming all with his 'radical' past. It didn't last long. Finally he got Hollywood connections to get a job at Sonoma State University where he worked as a 'teacher'????

Since that time, the early eighties really, Jonah was able to grab a coveted position at Sonoma State where he had a Communications department created for him and where he made a bundle. All thanks to his connections with Hollywood.

In 2010, Sonoma State was finally transformed into a hedge fund; Jonah said, did nothing. In 2011, we organized students and they us; the us old timers who graduated from SSU and those who taught there, to fight against privatization and fee increases: Jonah was not there, even though he was drawing a six figure salary, he never went to one meeting.

When the college was privatized and Sandy Weill took over the levers of power, Jonah was not there, but was still drawing a six figure salary.

Wait, he was there! He applauded the CEO of Sonoma State, telling his students that the man brought cake and goodies for students and stating that the CEO job, or president of the college, was a demanding job! All this, while Sonoma State was being undermined, its teachers were being fired, privatization reigned over the housing for students, curriculum fee increases, parking increases, attacks against the faculty union and a privatized orchestra chamber was made for and by Sandy Weill, the crook from CitiGroup. Thanks, Jonah!

Take a look at the video of Jonah working the Prez in his class and ask yourself if he is teaching critical thinking or fawning.

He now draws his pension from the debt ridden college.

And special thanks to former faculty member of SSU, Bob Karlsrud, for his excellent work!

Since 1975 I have not seen one thing that Raskin has done for the working people of this country or for the students he said he represented.

He like to de-mythologize the past while mythologizing himself.

At least David Horowitz came out with Radical Son and intimates he is a fascist; Raskin still poses for any audience he can get as a working class myth.

This is the man who says that he is sorry for not turning in Bernadette Dohrn and Bill Ayers to the FBI.

Come out of the closet, Jonah and claim the privilege you have and the right wing politics you embrace.

Re: “Goliath Meets David

Bookstores are more than books. They are places for people to gather in community. Mackenzie Bezos played a role in taking away a safe place for women to gather perhaps by her silent complicity during the lawsuit. Today the ethical thing for the Bezos to do is to give back the Amazon name to the Minneapolis women’s bookstore along with financial restitution. As we all know, the Amazon legacy is to stand up to bullies and fight for the underdogs.

Re: “Goliath Meets David

The name Amazon was stolen from Amazon Bookstore a feminist bookstore founded in 1970 in Minneapolis, MN. In 1999 the Amazon Bookstore for-profit collective sued Jeff Bezos for trademark infringement, plus staff time and money lost due to customers and suppliers mistaking their store for the Web retailer.
When Jeff Bezos stole the Amazon name, he encouraged his lawyers to interrogate a store co-owner while she was under oath about her sexual orientation and that of her staff! This week Copperfield’s Book Club hosts Mackenzie Bezos who typed a trite book about four women. I want to know how she feels about the women whose lives and livelihood she helped trample. I also want to know how Paul Jaffe and Barney Brown would feel about a corporation selling books using I think these are important musings for small independent bookstore owners and their customers.

Re: “Page Turner

Speaking of books, here's an author event of a local author:

LOVE AND TERROR IN THE MIDDLE EAST by Dr. Frank Romano, author event:

- Saturday, May 12th, 2012 from 1-3 pm, at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 700 4th
Street, Santa Rosa.

The book “Love and Terror in the Middle East” is about the author’s recent quest for spiritual peace among religions in the Middle East, notably highlighting interfaith activities in Israel and Palestine. He takes readers to the middle of the Jenin Refugee Camp as well as Hebron and Ramallah, where he spoke with many former prisoners of the Israeli government.

Traveling between these areas has been risky: he has been harassed and arrested by the Palestinian police, harassed by Israeli soldiers and attacked by West Bank settlers. Last month, a peace activist friend of Romano’s, an Israeli Jew, was murdered in the West Bank. Several months before that, another of his interfaith peace activist friends was murdered in Jerusalem.

The author believes that from the Jenin Refugee Camp, the heartthrob of the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis, will flow the river of peace that will reach the four corners of the world.

The book also delves into his agonized divorce with his first wife and separation from his three children after she fled to the United States, which ironically becomes a springboard for the author to seek his passion, interfaith peace in the Holy Land through love and understanding. In the meantime he meets another woman with whom he has a daughter. But his activities in Israel and the West Bank give rise to conflict with his new family. His passion for interfaith peace inspired the closing of his law firm in Marseille and the permanent separation from his partner and their daughter in Paris over his dedication to traveling to the Middle East and organizing marches and dialogues for peace in the middle of the conflict.

Then the author takes us to the middle of the Occupied Territories, to the West Bank City of Jenin, for a peace march in the place that offered the greatest resistance to Israeli soldiers during confrontations over the past 20 years.

His search thereafter for interfaith peace interweaves with his sometimes tragic personal life, hints of love and the desperation after a series of lovers and broken relationships. His life sometimes resembles more a personal battlefield than a peacemaking mission as he continues to look for love among Muslims, Jews and Christians in the Holy Land.

Concerning my first book, “Storm Over Morocco”, I earlier was interviewed live by FOX NEWS 26 and FOX 4 NEWS, Houston September 4th and Kansas City September 6, 2008 respectively and was a participant during a panel discussion concerning spiritual issues broadcasted live by a Houston Time Warner television station. Finally, I gave a power point presentation about my book and interfaith activities at the Mid-Manhattan Library in New York City on October 13, 2007. In addition, on January 4th, 2008, Brady Douglas and Jennifer Kielman, News Anchors, of NBC Channel 56 on KETK interviewed me during a 5 O’clock News broadcast, in particular about the situation in the Middle East.

Author has just returned from the Middle East.
