Re: “Stark Raving

My opinion about this article was to get to see new perspective what actually owner mean to own a restaurant. I like the fact that they said: "We're not here to make money," "We're here to make friends." It seems like all the owner should think about the beneficial and quality to serve for clients, but I guess they think "friends" is the first priority to connected with the restaurant. Also, Stark Family supporting with the local food to provide a customer with an organic food, and make farmer into the restaurant business.

Re: “A Singular Experience

Thanks, Anylocalsleft. The story has clarified to reflect the history of the building.

Re: “A Singular Experience

Having direct knowledge of the situation, I know developer Tony Greenberg was withholding payments for months prior Behler Construction's lien. Mr. Greenberg has various issues with the subcontractors that have balances due, and thus final payment cant be made to these subcontractors until these items are resolved. All of the other subcontractors and suppliers have been paid in full for their work on the project. The story doesnt mention that liens were also filed by Babcock Floors, Conklin Bros of Santa Rosa, Alan Gale (Alpha Fire), and RLA Sheet Metal. There is even Certificate of Lien from the Sonoma County Tax Collector.

Re: “A Singular Experience

One note of correction, the building itself was NOT the post office, it burned down mysteriously, in order for the new building to be built, which was a major point of contention with locals.

Re: “A Singular Experience

Way to bring this to the attention of those of us who've yet to experience Single Thread, I saw @thefoodofelan posted about this on Instagram, during his visit. Says they should get a 2 Michelin Star. Sounds yummy.

Re: “Downstream

Regarding the Feb. 22 State Water Board meeting in Sacramento to decide whether to certify the Elk River TMDL, the minutes for that item read:
"PULLED DEFERRED TO FUTURE BOARD MEETING".
I don't suppose that's good for the cause. Great in-depth article on an important local issue.

Re: “The Watchdog

Not everybody is a "coward" that comments about the Sheriff, without showing up at the meetings. For instance, I want to comment here, but Bohemian makes me create an account, with passwords. I am sick of new accounts and passwords just to comment. Another reason for not attending meetings, I live in Sonoma, and the City Council meetings drone on for hours, with public comment restricted until the end, and the Council members grow weary of hearing from their constituents, and cut comment off. I have seen people that wanted to comment get up and leave, because of delays. IMO, this is voter suppression, as far as inclusive democracy, as we have no voice, except when they allow it, on their time. This city cares about wine and tourists, nothing else. Love Sonoma, hate the newbie carpetbagger richies that see our town as something to exploit for their profit, with their enablers, the C of C, Visitors Bureau and City Council, all thick as thieves.

Only got around to reading this only recently, it got lost in my bookmarks. Excellent! I remember the remarkable win despite Chevron millions in 2014, but didn't know the rest of the story. Thanks for this.

Re: “The Watchdog

This was surprising to read. The Board has always seemed to say they have no policy authority over the Sheriff:

"My own personal view of it is the government code does give the board of supervisors supervisorial authority over sheriffs, and that it's rarely exercised."

As it stands it seems the only thing the Sheriff is currently doing that the Board of Supervisors may have issue with is voluntary notice of release date being given to immigration. They do not honor 48 hour hold requests unless accompanied by a court order, in fact it now seems it has been found unlawful to honor hold requests unless they come with a court order.

Re: “The Watchdog

Since Mr. Threet's primary function appears to be to reassure the public, nice fluffy pieces like this will help the cause, but where are the questions from writer Gogola for Threet regarding Sheriff Freitas's meeting with AG Jeff Sessions?

The PD reported on the meeting on Feb. 8 - the article referenced above - that "Threet said he will ask Freitas further questions next week when they are scheduled to meet."

What were those questions and what were Freitas's answers? Inquiring members of the public wish to know. Gogola asked him above to comment on the people commenting on the PD piece, yet apparently failed to ask Threet about the follow-up meeting with Freitas itself. C'mon Boho, we need some answers.

Re: “Herbal Remedies

After being in relationship with Mueni for seven years,he

broke up with me, I did everything possible to bring him

back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much

because of the love I have for him, I begged him with

everything, I made promises but he refused. I explained my

problem to someone online and she suggested that I should

rather contact a spell caster that could help me cast a

spell to bring him back but I am the type that never

believed in spell, I had no choice than to try it, I

mailed the spell caster, and he told me there was no

problem that everything will be okay before three days,

that my ex will return to me before three days, he cast

the spell and surprisingly in the second day, it was

around 4pm. My ex called me, I was so surprised, I

answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry

for everything that happened, that he wanted me to return

to him, that he loves me so much. I was so happy and went

to him, that was how we started living together happily

again. Since then, I have made promise that anybody I know

that have a relationship problem, I would be of help to

such person by referring him or her to the only real and

powerful spell caster who helped me with my own problem

and who is different from all the fake ones out there.

Anybody could need the help of the spell caster, his

email: drosun11@gmail.com you can email him if

you need his assistance in your relationship or anything.

I CAN NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM, HIS EMAIL ADDRESS IS:

Re: “The Redwood Empire Fights Back

Banning commercial MJ cultivation in RR districts does more than perpetuate illegal activity, it empowers neighbors to bring civil action against the offenders who are often slumlords who can bring in multiples of the fair market rent by allowing these small homes to have large grows.

Re: “Bitter Pill

Yes go ahead with your repeal, be proud to make it where health care premiums continue to rise beyond anyone's ability to pay it. Tell the uninsured to just wait for medical treatment or run to the emergency rooms and try not to die. Just make sure you know it is the Republicans who did this for you. Repeal away.

What they dont realize is that not going bankrupt because of an illness, or disease, is a great thing. the ACA is 21st century law for the 21st century. It was about time!

Being self employed, my health insurance rates dropped from $375/month to just $85/month. It really makes paying things like rent ($1100/month), car insurance $25/month (from Insurance Panda), internet/cable ($125/month from TWC), student loans ($325/month), and gas that much easier.

Oh yeah.. And the health problems are worst in red states.

Re: “Bitter Pill

I'm not sure why Len Katzman gets 8 dislikes. Is anything he's said wrong? I'm genuinely curious.

"from the article: "House majority leader Kevin McCarthy says that if Democrats dont participate in post-Obamacare, then theyre responsible for whatever consequences ensue."

FALSE.

The Republicans have controlling majorities in both the House and Senate and have unfettered power to enact any legislation they want -- with a Republican in the White House. There is no scenario in which any "consequences" will inure to the Democrats.

Republicans, this is 100% all on you. Republicans don't need a single Democratic Representative's or Senator's vote. Republicans can enact good laws and and reap the praise, or bad laws and take the blame. It's all on them." - Len Kratzman

Democrats would not be any more wrong than Republicans to be the party of No for the next four years. Clearly, this method works.

@David Shumate: All that sounds great in theory. Should these free markets for healthcare (let's call them "healthcare exchanges") include the right to refuse service for pre-existing conditions? How do you ensure interstate portability without trampling on states rights? A new federal law?

Re: “Bitter Pill

The Republicans have the power to repeal the ACA. Do the Democrats have the sense to participate in writing the replacement?
