Re: “When Tom Met Sally

Why oh, why is it so hard to understand why we are so upset over this work??? You CANNOT make light of this owner and slave sexual relationship!! She was his property his sex slave. She had no choice in anything, she was property. Even if there are reports from back at this time that there was some sort of love there, portraying this as a light hearted romance is horrific! It is horrific to women who have been raped, and women who have to constantly on the defense from sexual predators. This is dangerous. It enforces rape culture. To suppose there was mutuality here is wrong, disturbing and dangerous!!! Please understand. Please hear the cries in pain. #enditnow!

RAPE has never been more fun!

Re: “When Tom Met Sally

The use of the term "illicit union" in the review implies a consensuality that is not possible when one person, literally, owns the other. I understand this show romanticizes the relationship between Jefferson and Hemings, but there's no need for the reviewer to further romanticize it. I'm not even sure illicit is correct in this context. Was it illegal at that time for Jefferson to rape Hemings and father her children?

Re: “When Tom Met Sally

There have also been plenty of fiery and acrimonious reactions from people who have seen the play.

Re: “Roses for 'Gypsy'

Hello, I am Theresa Williams After being in relationship with Anderson for years, he broke up with me, I did everything possible to bring him back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much because of the love I have for him, I begged him with everything, I made promises but he refused. I explained my problem to my friend and she suggested that I should rather contact a spell caster that could help me cast a spell to bring him back but I am the type that never believed in spell, I had no choice than to try it, I mailed the spell caster, and he told me there was no problem that everything will be okay before three days, that my ex will return to me before three days, he cast the spell and surprisingly in the second day, it was around 4 pm. My ex called me, I was so surprised, I answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry for everything that happened that he wanted me to return to him, that he loves me so much. I was so happy and went to him that was how we started living together happily again. Since then, I have made promise that anybody I know that have a relationship problem, I would be of help to such person by referring him or her to the only real and powerful spell caster who helped me with my own problem. email: (drogunduspellcaster@gmail.com) you can email him if you need his assistance in your relationship or any other Case.

Re: “Art of Survival

I am so proud and amazed over your accomplishments.

It is true, the thought of living additional years in this torture makes me long for death.

I can not bear this torture any more.
I am alone in pure hell with a broken body & broken brain just thrown to the wolves.

Bless you sweetie.
Thank you for raising awareness.

Re: “Art of Survival

Finally, a true story about lyme and what it does to people. I left a prestigious radio career due to Lyme an I was forced to move to Maine where I thougt it more affordable, only to realize they refuse to recognize it. The author is correct... I came here with almost half-a-million dollars...gone in four years. I live in a house with NO water or indoor plumbing and have to travel 13 miles into the woods to get my water...and I have lowered myself to begging the state, the federal government, anyone for help. Nothing. So yes, Final Exit is an option for many of us because I can barely move, nevermind having to fend off bobcat, bears, and coyote, just to get water. All the while fighting neurological and physical pain on a 24/7--365 days of the year. Thank you for being a voice that most is us can no longer be. Blessings. Shantiann

Re: “Clown Around

I was hoping for more of your usual column which is a review of the show. We often choose what we do based on your comments. This is more of a description...darn.
Still love Sondheim and will most likely attend.

Re: “Curtain Calls

Thank you to Alexa, Barry, David, Harry, and anyone else for the fun evening of awards for Sonoma County Theater. It was a blast seeing people honored for their work, meeting new people and visiting with those whom I have not seen for ages. Thank you for the nomination and thank you for honoring the Marquee theater in your name. It has inspired me to make a Marquee Theater Group on FB to gather company alumni and memories. -Jacinta Gorringe

Re: “Until Death

False advertising is used to pass assisted suicide laws. If they are really supporting individual choices and rights they would provide an ordinary witness to the self administration of the lethal dose. Without a witness they are promoting forced euthanasia.
I learned after caring for my wife during her last 18 months of declining autonomy. I was surprised that you can work on 4 hours sleep. I focus on how these bills are written, their omissions and how they could be administered to my wife.

Note much abuse has been documented in the Oregon assisted suicide system.
See the federal case of Thomas Middleton who was killed with the Oregon law for his assets. Note that the Oregon system did not detect this abuse due to a lack of transparency. Even organ traffickers can thrive under cover of this covert system.
Respectfully submitted,
Bradley Williams
President
MTaas dot org
PS:
The promoters have done the public a disservice. They are guilty of false advertising. Their ordinary bait and switch campaign is demonstrated by their chanting "must self-administer" then they do not provide in their legislation for an ordinary witness of the "self-administration". The difference is that a witness would honor individual rights, without a witness it allows euthanasia. If the individual changed their mind no one would ever know. And we know that 30% do change their mind according to Oregon's records. This omission eviscerates the flaunted safeguards putting the entire population at risk of exploitation by the medical industrial complex, organ traffickers and predatory heirs. Does that sound like a dangerous public policy to you?

Re: “Naughty and Nice

To Serena Goldsmith's quibble over the "blatantly edited" use of a critical review. Agreed that the review is carefully worded, but the producers leave out the critic's issues with Coward's play which are notoriously difficult for modern audiences. Your consternation reminds me of a review of the original 1941 production: "London received Mr. Noel Coward's ghoulish farce with loud, though not quite unanimous acclaim. There was a solitary boo – from an annoyed spiritualist, presumably."

The performance at 6th Street that I saw was polished, well-paced, uniformly well-performed with a very hard veneer that Coward is known for.
