Re: “Tess Felix Greene

This intimate setting is a great way to be introduced to Tess Felix's work or to see new work if you are already an admirer. Also, if you, like me, have never been to the Bolinas Museum you will be happy to discover it and want to make it a regular stop whenever you visit the coast. Tess Green's show closes June 24th.

Re: “The Triumphant & the Sublime

What a wonderful performance Saturday night by Philharmonia Healdsburg. Philip Santos' guest performance on violin was incredible in the Mendelssohn concerto and the performance of Beethoven's 5th was unforgetable. Thank you, Les Pfutzenreuter for this great program. Last performance is Sunday 6/3 at 2pm - highly recommended.

Re: “Bates Motel Survivors

Bates Motel Survivors is one of the best blues bands I have seen in a very long time. Wilson had my heart singing all night long with his harmonica and singing.

Re: “Liz Carroll & Cormac McCarthy

I first saw Liz Carroll at the Seb. Celtic Festival years ago. She's fantastic, one of the very best players & composers of Celtic music in the world. And she has been since she won the All-Ireland Jr. Championship as a kid (from Chicago, IL)! Saturday night @ Glaser should be a special treat. BTW, students get in for $10 with ID.

Re: “Chicago

Great show Saturday night! Large, lively audience enjoyed the wonderful music of Chicago, along with great choreography and vocals. Cast was great and everyone was thoroughly entertained in this beautiful theater.

Re: “Chicago

Terrific! My husband and I were at the Madrona Manor this past weekend on a mini-break. We were wondering about the local nightlife when one of the women in concierge recommended "Chicago" at the Raven Theatre. We attended the show Saturday night and absolutely LOVED it! The cast was so superior to what we expected out of a small community theatre and the entire production was super professional and showed great vision. Billy Fkynn was superb, as were Mama and Velma. We were so impressed - and since we had to check out of th hotel anyway - we decided to go again on Sunday. Although the show was still great, the amazing chemistry between Saturday night's Roxie and the other main characters, seemed lacking. Particularly in the duets and dance routines with Velma. We were glad we saw the show twice and were able to see the different personality the two Roxies (both named Katie) lent to the character, but if you can ony see it once, I'd recommend going when Katie Neuberg is playing Roxie. Either way, though, you won't be disapointed. It's almost as good as Broadway!

Re: “Chicago

Two Roxies Rock Healdsburg in “Chicago”

The hit musical “Chicago” has been playing at the Raven Performing Arts Theater for three weeks, and will conclude its run with performances on February 17, 18 & 19. The Raven Players production, directed by John DeGaetano, may be the finest production yet for this highly successful community theater group. Degaetano has previously directed noted musicals Miss Saigon, Cats, and Pirates of Penzance.

In casting the production, DeGaetano decided to cast two performers as Roxie Hart, one of the lead roles, alternating each performance. Katy Kaul and Katie Neuberger both give heartfelt performances as the murderess Roxie, and play a major role in the ensemble for those performances when they are not Roxie. The alternating roles works out well, and gives theater goers a great reason to see this production twice, as each Roxie brings a slightly different twist to the Roxie character.

Other casting successes include Jeremy Berrick, who seems to be a natural as Billy Flynn, the slick-talking lawyer, Tressa Bowles, who dances and sings her heart out as Velma Kelley, Mathew Proschold as poor, pathetic Amos Hart. David Strock is cast in one of his most unique roles as Mary Sunshine. Neuberger and Berrick are making their first appearance on the Healdsburg stage, while Healdsburg High graduate Nate Mercier and Healdsburg resident Dick Bertapelle are making their first appearance on any stage.

Choreographer Staci Arriaga has put together highly intricate dance routines and the troup has put in long, hard hours to perfect them. Memorable songs, accompanied by Les Pfutzenreuter’s twelve- piece orchestra include All That Jazz, Funny Honey, Cell Block Tango, Me and My Baby, Mister Cellophane Razzle Dazzle.

Several comments received from theater goers include: “Chicago is fantastic!”, “Congratulations to John Degaetano and the cast of Chicago. I think this is the best the Raven Players have ever been. One of the most talented local casts I've ever seen. If you haven't been to see Chicago, you absolutely must. This show is smokin'!”, and finally, “Saw Chicago on Saturday...Fantastic! I danced all the way to the street.”

Friday performances begin at 8:00pm, and Sunday matinees are at 2:00pm. Get there early if you want a good seat, as sales have been extremely brisk. Tickets available at Copperfields Bookstores and at

Re: “Wine Country Swing

Like Gaia's Garden alot. Appreciate the vegetarian selection and quality of grain and homemade breads. Deliciously cooked. The Fresh Produce taste really comes though, unmasked by overuse of spices. However, lovely selection of spice to add to your meal. (Try the fresh ginger/chili just the right heat/flavor combo. It was very clean, courteous and warm reception. Went on a Thursday evening - beautiful music, magnificent slide guitar, fabulous vocals. Appropriately priced. Fine selection of libations. Chai tea, Pear Cider, Ruby port offered. I will be going back. Thanks Gaia's!

Re: “Maple and Vine

Maple and Vine was very clever, well directed and played by very talented people. The only thing objectionable was is that the frequent use of the f. word introduced in the final quarter of the presentation ruined the whole dreamy quality of the play.
