Craig Britton was born in Chicago, Illinois. BFA - Art Academy of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1994, MFA- Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA, 1998 “I choose subjects as jumping off points to explore intellectual and emotional responses to what I am observing. It is a dialogue with things seen and felt, because they are often inseparable. My aim has always been to make work which is compelling in its beauty, or at least intriguing, in the way that a piece of music can be. “ In 1999, Craig received a ‘Percent for Art’ commission from S.E.P.T.A., (South Eastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority) - Philadelphia’s mass transit system, for his project, “Seasons of Juniata”, which is in permanent installation at the Erie-Torresdale elevated train station, Philadelphia, PA. Mr.Britton was a staff muralist and teacher for the Mural Arts Commission in Philadephia, has taught Art at Elementary and High schools as an Artist in Residence, and adults at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, in Philadelphia. His work resides in many private and corporate collections, including Cincinnati Bell Telephone, Arc International, Wendy’s Inc., the University of Cincinnati; Deaconness Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kesher Israel Synagogue, Philadelphia, PA. Recent Exhibitions include The Falkirk Cultural Center, San Rafel, CA; The Benicia Plein Air Gallery, Arts Benicia, Benicia City Hall and the Frank Bette Center for the Arts, Alameda, CA. Craig is a current member of The Benicia Plein Air Gallery, Arts Benicia, and SF MOMA. Copies of his resume’ are available upon request.
