Re: “Small City, Big Dreams

Real Talk.

If you as a school district or educator are denying a certain artform and subculture of our shared community, youre also cutting arts and creative programs in the schools. I never met a kid who didnt appreciate learning/education, but I met too many youth who didnt get in their schools. Events like this could come with workshops and after school programs built collaboratively. Ive done this in big cities.

If youre denying the existence of Latinos/chicanos within Hip Hop, youre not understanding that it's not just Latinos in Hip Hop, its Hip Hop that represents many multicultural people in various economic, educational and social struggles.

If you just dont do Hip Hop then you dont value our culture, and you send the message that you only want Hip Hoppers and Latinos who are Hip Hop to only be catering to the beer, cheese, and wine-industry.

Hip Hop is an artform that creates and channels art and music, and if that is not found in schools programs, we can teach you how to do this.

Rappers and the Rap business industry are the people who rip people off and mess up venues and do bad business, which is bad for business.

We may need a movement as well as social media, and we will continue to build in our own communities, like the community-block parties mentioned, despite the annexation and gentrification going on.

We not just a culture or a movement, we are the momentum.
