Local Authors Day

When: Wed., June 27, 2:30 p.m. 2018
Price: Free

Kisco Senior Living Community Drake Terrace will welcome well-known television scriptwriter and mystery author Rita Lakin and Chicken Soup for the Soul essayist Steven Friedman for a Local Author’s Day. The hour-long event – which is open to all Drake Terrace residents and local community members at no cost – will culminate with a meet-and-greet and book signing in the community’s lobby.

As one of the first female show runners and one of the first women in television, Lakin has been credited for nearly 500 produced television scripts spanning across 30 productions. She will be reading from her popular Gladdy Gold Mysteries collection, a seven-book series about a senior with a private investigation business. Friedman is a former employee of Drake Terrace and author of Golden Memories of the San Francisco Bay Area, a book that encapsulates the people and places of San Francisco through the oral histories of nine longtime residents. He will be sharing his latest essay titled “Mom’s Cards from Beyond”, a story about the handwritten cards his late wife left for their two children to open major life events that she will miss. This essay was featured in Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Amazing Mom: 101 Stories of Love and Appreciation, which came out in March of this year.

Although this event is free and open to the public, RSVPs are encouraged. To learn more and to reserve your spot, please contact Robin Schepps at 415-491-1935 or robin.schepps@kiscosl.com.
