Trees & plant communities: oak woodlands, redwoods, galls

When: Sat., Sept. 28, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 2019
Phone: 707-833-5712
Price: $10
Join California Naturalist John Lynch on a guided nature hike to explore Sugarloaf’s trees and plant communities - with a special focus on our Oaks & Redwoods. We will discuss why Oaks are considered a keystone species at Sugarloaf and the role of Redwoods in plant diversity. Beginning at the Visitor Center, we’ll follow Pony Gate Trail’s grassy slope, into the Oak woodland and through a mixed evergreen forest, along Canyon Trail’s shady riparian corridor lined with redwoods, to the 25-foot dramatic plunge of Sonoma Creek and back to the Visitor Center. Approximately 2 miles with 450-foot elevation gain.
